The guy who was dressed as Snake was MBG. He wasn’t happy afterwards. lol
I do agree with those who say that they want to see exclusives on a showcase. Same for Microsoft and Nintendo. In fact, it’s why the vast majority of people watch the shows to begin with. The worst aspect was that Sony showed 5 first party titles but only Marvel’s Spider Man 2 (which based on new info released earlier is shaping up to be an easy game of the year contender) is a pure single player game. The other 4 are all co-op/multi-player focused (lmao) so that didn’t help matters for those watching the showcase.
The Sauce video with Gaz was really good and funny.
I watched the entire Iron Lords stream for the Showcase and yeah, King David was having the time of his life and he was eating some kind of goldfish snack. lol
For me, Spider Man 2 is as of now my favorite to be my 2023 game of the year especially after new info was released today about the game. Can’t freaking wait!!! Hoping it releases in November.
Good stuff. I’ll go read that article. A bigger map can be cool, but bigger isn’t always better. I rather have a somewhat smaller world but more densely packed. And hopefully we have some new interactions in the city itself. Hopefully more fun side quests/missions too.
GTA V had a big map too, but there were plenty of areas we never had to go to in the story. Maybe they had planned that for expansions. Hopefully Spidey 2 makes good use of all the areas.
As for the exclusives thing, I definitely agree with that. But you have those fanboys that actually get excited when a multiplatform title is announced and it’s not coming to Xbox. I thought the Sony fans in that video meant it more like that.
I agree that a bigger map doesn’t equal better (cough Valhalla cough) but in this case, two new cities have been added to the game so I can understand why and to be honest, I live in NY so im hoping I see my building in the game. Hehehe.
I think the Sony fans went off about the exclusives thing because they didn’t get anything of substance outside of Spider Man 2. If Sony would have shown Tsushima 2 or Barlog’s new IP, even in CGI form, I don’t think most would have cared about majority of games being multi-platform. Sure, the extremists would still go nuts but they go nuts all the time anyway.
For me, second week or so in November will give me time to play through Assassin’s Creed Mirage (October 12th) and Alan Wake 2 (October 17th) before jumping in to Spider Man 2. I also see November as more likely than September because if Sony is releasing that new PS5 revision with the optional disc drive attachment, November would be the best time for this. As for The Game Awards, Spider Man 2 I would say is a great bet to be nominated for 2023 game of the year.
I wish these Nutjob Fanboys would just get into sports and find a sports team to root for instead of twisting Gaming and the Gaming community into some weird competitive sport in their weird ass broken minds.
It would be much easier to enjoy gaming and converse with fellow gamers WITHOUT this dumb ass zero sum competition bullshit these click bait crazies’ push out all the time.
Sports or even something like pro Wrestling is a much more appropriate and better outlet for these stupid Console War losers.
I feel like Pro Wrestling is a good parallel to the gaming industry. The hardcore fans are out of their minds and the market leader is given a free pass for pretty much everything, while the underdog company has to do every single thing right or else it means doom for them. The media that covers them is also pretty terrible.
For me, my current game of the year is Star Wars: Jedi Survivor which I don’t see being nominated at The Game Awards. Overall winner im expecting to be either Zelda or Starfield.
Back to me, my favorite as of right now is Marvel’s Spider Man 2 but it’s not guaranteed. We have seven months to go yet. I can guarantee one thing though - Zelda will NOT be my game of the year. lol
Actually, I think Layden’s era ended with GOWR and probably Spider Man 2. The live service games like Concord, Fairgames and others to come is all Jim Ryan in my opinion.
Personally, I believe that this generation started the Jim Ryan era.
He started it off nicely with Demon Souls, HFW, GOWR, Ratchet Rift Apart but the direction they are going now isn’t too great. I think many fans were hoping that these newly acquired studios would make SP stuff too. Nope.
The SP stuff likely will only keep coming from the studios they’ve had for a long time, and even one of them is making a MP game.
The studios they’ve acquired this generation have been Haven, Firewalk, Firesprite, Bungie, Bluepoint Games and Housemarque. The only studio of these six that I care about or have any interest in is Housemarque and if it wasn’t for the fact that it’s a roguelike game, I would have easily completed Returnal. Bluepoint will most likely remake Sony IP’s if I had to guess. Point being is that the majority of the studios Sony acquired are simply online co-op/multi-player oriented so I don’t know why any PlayStation would expect pure single player games from those other four studios. I’m a PlayStation fan and I know exactly why those studios were acquired which is fine by me because acquiring studios that do those games allows the studios I care about the most staying away from all that shit. Hehe. Of course, it all remains to be seen.
I sure hope so for the extreme fans, otherwise the meltdowns are going to be of epic proportions if someone like SP were to make a MP game next, lmao.
I was wondering, why oh why did Sony do away with Japan Studio, and what happened with Media Molecule? They made some of the more unique things. I remember how the fans were like “no more smaller games, just the blockbusters we love from here on out? Fine with me” but look how that’s turning out, heh.
Great games or meltdowns, either way, we’ll all be entertained!! lol
Japan Studio still exists. It was essentially rebranded into Team Asobi who did Astro’s Playroom which is the pack in demo with the PlayStation 5 console. Media Molecule is currently getting ready to start development on a new game and they need to hit. Personally, I have zero interest in Media Molecule so if their game isn’t up to snuff and Sony shuts them down, I wouldn’t be shocked or surprised. I am mildly interested in seeing Team Asobi’s full game which is supposed to be a new Astro platformer.
The iconic developer behind Ape Escape, Gravity Rush and Knack has seen the vast majority of its development staff let go, the sources said, after their annual contracts were not renewed ahead of the company’s next business year, which begins April 1.
There is some mixed wording depending on which new story you read about it. Some claim that Japan studio was closing but would be reorganized/re-centered into Asobi. However, most indications are that the majority of the studio was cut loose.
