Playstation Showcase OT: NOT ACTUAL GAMEPLAY

I wouldn’t be so sure of that. I would not be surprised at some of these GaaS probably be delayed or cancelled before they even launch.

Finished watching the showcase. I got plenty to say, but I need to sleep. I can say that this was an odd one.

Based on how many they allegedly have in development, which I believe stands at 12 as of now, it is more likely than not.

One ecosystem isn’t going to be able to support that many live service games along side the existing big hitters.

So would this Spider-man 2 fit in banger category?

They will still have their single player games to fall back on, because the investment here will remain the same. So, another 2-3 games per year depending on release cycles.

I think most of their GaaS games will most likely not stick, as it is normally with GaaS games. They will probably be hoping Bungies game ends up being successful, with maybe 1 or 2 others out the 12.

Will be interesting to see what they do with the studios if their GaaS titles bomb, stick with them or shut down, given these are new studios with no prior IP or prestige.

That’s fine by me. Give me more single player games and throw the multi-player games in the trash. lol

the way Sony is handling GAAS development is pure big suit thinking. They heard that a GAAS game can bring a billion, so they think let us make twelve, it will make 12 billions.

There will be blood.

It’s in the same vaporware camp as Black Myth in my eyes.

Thanks, I hate it

FairGame$ was incredibly generic. You could tell a bunch of ex-Ubisoft devs made it because of the tone-deaf usage of current event topics. I could feel the server shutdown announcement emanating from the trailer.

Concord I don’t know why that announcement even existed. It felt like a hodge podge of the Starfield, & Arc Raiders trailer. It told us absolutely NOTHING about the game.

Marathon like the others didn’t really tell us much.

This Sony GAAS experiment is off to a rough start.

Not that big of a deal but they once again tried to still Xbox thunder with Alan Wake II being shown at their show like it would be exclusive or something. KOTOR Remake which got some Xbox fans riled up and now this. I don’t care personnaly because I know it’s multiplat but still, it’s a bit annoying.

And the game stole the show for me. It’s crazy that Alan Wake II is real and coming this year.

Spider-Man 2 is obviously going to be dope but I really hope they don’t make Kraven into a generic Call of Duty villain like he appears to be in that trailer.

Alan Wake 2 is going to be a must play too for me. The Plucky Squire and Song of the Sea seem cool too. Otherwise, this really just seems to highlight the continued struggle with getting AAA games to market. We’ll certainly get several but the industry just isn’t able to meet the demands of fanboys (which is probably fine imo).

I was searching for it and finally found it. Ultros looks pretty good. I like what they are going for.

I know people online can be hyperbolic when talking about video game graphics, but this genuinely looks like a PS4 game.

It gives me bullshit vaporware vibes similar to Black Myth Wukong. I wouldn’t be surprised if both these games either never release or release looking nothing like their trailers.

The lighting was extremely flat & the overall vibe of the open world was definitely last gen in its presentation. I mean just look at the texture work & shadows as well. There’s no point denying the complaints you read this morning do have some truth to them.

There’s a problem with how video games look these days & what happened last night is part of a wider discussion regarding how misused the power of these systems is.

Studios are having trouble with look dev, basically, i.e. determining what makes a video game look better than a previous entry is getting harder & harder considering the diminishing returns of the hardware tech.

Do they go with 60 fps? RT? Higher poly count? 4K textures? More particle effects? Visuals are all over the place nearly 3 years into current gen. And the color palettes & art direction in many of these titles… ouch. I mean bring back the PS360 era browns because IMO what we’re getting now is over-saturated neon garish overload to the point of being unwatchable (I’m looking at you, i.e. Immortals of Aveum).

I’m very late to the talk but man that show was weak. 4/10 from me. Only new exciting thing was MGS 3, Alan Wake & Dragons Dogma too but we knew they where coming.

I think that’s because none of them showed gameplay, they were all CGI trailers and IMO not very good ones either - so quite forgettable!

Outside of Spider-Man the only first party title that mildly interested me is Marathon which is multi platform anyway.

So we’ve forgotten about God of War, now? I get people being disappointed by the Sony showcase, but to pretend they haven’t got/done anything is just weird. Ditto flatout ignoring stuff like Helldivers 2 - why do we ignore the smaller games? Anyone here who gets annoyed at, say, Pentiment being ignored hasn’t a leg to stand on…

I kinda want some sort of refund for watching this thing last night :grimacing:
