PlayStation 5 |OT| This SSD has no limits

Its looking that way

I wasn’t at all impressed with the Pro in a number of titles I couldn’t see any real tangible difference. Yes… I was just playing through them briefly while down my mates having a few beers, but nothing stood out and it was nothing like when I was playing a PS4 Pro for the first time (down the same mate’s house lol) or when I had my own Pro model Project Scorpio/One X on launch day.

I could get a pro for 599 so went to buy one. Most of my library is physical so I went to look at a disc drive. £100 RRP is crazy anyway but they’re out of stock and pushing £170 on eBay which is too much

Then looked for a few games digitally and the fact they lock their games to the PS store and I am unable to buy on somewhere like CD Keys is very annoying. For example I bought Veilguard recently. It was 69.99 on the Xbox store but I got it for 48.99 on CD Keys.

Either way this has stopped me buying the console, which is a shame. Kinda makes me realise the choice Xbox gives you is undervalued, certainly by me at least

The best way is to only buy first party games on PS5 anyway. All third party games should be bought on more trustworthy reliable platforms like Xbox or Steam. Nobody should risk buying third party games on PlayStation or Nintendo, those purchases are not guaranteed for future consoles.

With how long it’s been in development it’s hard to say why exactly it exists, as they could’ve thought Xbox would develop a refresh too, like the X to the PS4 Pro, so there’s gotta be a PS5 Pro too. It’s an easy to money from the enthusiasts on top.

So…

No one is going to talk about Lego Horizon?

It’s infinitely cheaper and more convenient buying on Xbox than PS. The way the digital store policies work ok PS, the cloud saves and basically everything with an online digital frontend is better on Xbox. PS is for first party and even those better get on physical as the PS physical trading market is good in most places.

It’s not a given Xbox will remain in the console industry. I would say there’s a little more doubt over Xbox staying in the console sector to SONY or Nintendo.

I think all will be launching new systems next gen and I’m not looking to get worried passed that.

I’ll just think Xbox makes the better console and also does the better job of allowing users to play their old games on new Xbox systems with better graphics features, boost mode Ect, Ect. I couldn’t see any improvement when my friend was playing PS4 games on his PS 5 Pro.

A massive contrast to how much improved old games looked on the Xbox One X never mind Series X. Not that Xbox gets much credit for it via the mainstream

I’ve seen some reviews, it doesn’t seem to be reviewing that well even by the PS sites - think 6/10 from PushSquare which for a first party IP is a low score from them…

All it takes is to be 1 pixel higher resolution on the 5Pro to be labeled as Enhanced. I don’t know why folks are surprised at some Enhanced games having minimal difference. I really wish people had critical thinking capabilities. This wouldn’t be a surprise to anyone then.

That’s good to know. Did you see it side by side or first regular PS5 and then Pro?

I feel that Rockstar will be the one to show a real difference with GTA 6. How big though, I wonder. With RDR2 it was clear, it was the full fat native 4K on One X and significantly lower resolution on PS4 Pro. What will it be this time I wonder.

If you have to have it side by side, or directly after to spot any differences that’s a pretty clear sign it’s useless.

Yeah, good point.

I was very interested in the PS5 Pro, or rather the idea of it, beforehand but I decided against it. It’s simply not worth it, it’s an Apple-like cash grab with no real purpose.

If it had been a proper upgrade, like the One X was, I would have been all over it and probably shifted to it as my main console for new purchases until next-gen. This is nowhere near that though.

If you are interested in a PS5 I’d just grab a regular one in the inevitable sales coming up.

I hear ya!

As for getting a PS5 altogether, honestly, I think I’ve decided against getting that too. My backlog on Xbox and new upcoming games have me set for months to come. And when I look at the few games I missed out on such as FF7R, FF16 (which has a chance of coming to Xbox next year), Wukong (eventually I’m sure too, I’d imagine sooner than later) Stellar Blade (not even that hyped about it) it’s not really I am so badly desiring to play anyway.

I’ll spend that money on things that actually need to be done, stuff in the house.

Sounds like a much better course of action.

Yeah if GTA6 has a Pro advantage it will most likely be image quality, RT/lighting/shadows, or something like that. Unless they reconfigure their engine to be where GPU can takeover CPU bounds, which should also mean the other platforms could also have 60ffps or unlocked fps modes, while Pro would brute force it. Only IF. Rockstar is weird with 60fps, even GTA5 is not stable on current-gen, and RDR2 still hasn’t received a 60fps patch

PS5 would be a good get if you ever clean your backlog hehe. I imagine the end of the gen, getting the digital for $250-300, and games get cheaper or most of their library is on PS+, then it would be a great time to get it and play everything you wanted. This is what I did with the PS3 :sunglasses:

I think it peaked at 600 on steam? Which isnt great, but i dont know how well lego games typically do anyway.

Lego would be eyewatering expensive license

Lego SkyWalker Saga peaked at 82.5K. Even after 2.6 years it still has more peak and current players than Lego Horizon Adventures. Though the most recent Harry Potter collection isn’t showing much better, where even LOTR and Marvel is besting HP. This all kind of goes to show you how Lego Skywalker was better received, possibly because of it’s new game world structure not being simplistic like the older games or like Horizon Adventures.
