Are those screenshots the before or after? Because I dont think they look all that great regardless.
Rebirth Performance mode rendered at like 720p so not surprising lol. That is exactly what the Pro is for.
Needing a 800€ console to enjoy a game is not a win.
I can’t understand why they put a 2TB SSD in this thing. Storage is still too expensive.
Shave 100€, put a disc drive and it would be much more attractive.
Actually, one need to remember that the games can in fact increase its data size if it’s going to be stronger performance.
It’s just a resolution and performance boost ? Am I missing something ?
Yep, at that price point you might as well say Xbox games look better because all Xbox first party games go on PC day one and you can eclipse the PSpro in visual and performance on a PC that is in a similar price range
Sony does not really want to sell a disc drive. digital content is way more profitable.
I’m guessing Sony’s cheque has just arrived at Digital Foundry / Eurogamer so now they’re all in on the Pro and how it makes games they recommended before (but apparently they now admit run like crap) will be amazing on the Pro…
EDIT: Also I agree with everyone else - those screenshots don’t look particularly amazing, Forza Horizon 5, Flight Sim, Hellblade 2 and even Ubi open world games (plus a number of newer Sony first party games) look way better
That 1TB additional storage does not cost Sony $100. Without it, the value to the consumer would look even worse. Its the same way the optical addon cost to Sony is nowhere near the price they’re charging consumers. These are profit margin boosters.
Japan actually responded to the price hike by dropping the typical 30,000 sold to barely 10,000.

Apparently mine is arriving today…
Mr Linneman still defending SONY?
If this was Xbox Mr Linnerman being calling out for what it is and saying to buy a PC
So FF7 Rebirth will run 60fps in Quality Mode, and apparently the image quality is even better than the Quality mode on the base PS5, that’s pretty awesome.
Still not dropping £700 on this unless there is a substantially wider range of games taking advantage of the power though. I’d want this PS5 Pro boost mode to be at the very least on the level of Xbox’s FPS boost library. If it’s going to largely just be PS exclusives taking full advantage of the Pro then it’s not worth it and I’ll just wait for the PS6.
It’s why I completely disagree with the premise of “but for £700 that’s good value compared to a PC that can run games just as well”, because sure okay but you need the PS5 Pro enhancements to actually be patched in, whereas on PC you can basically run your whole library of games at as high settings as you want. I go back to older games quite often so if most of what I own is still running the same as it did on PS4 then it holds significantly less value to me than a PC would.
Given how lacklustre the reveal was and how few games were shown I’m not holding my breath for this thing tbh.
Willing to bet Rebirth will launch on PC shortly after.
Damn.
It will be interesting to see how Indiana Jones run on it.

Pro will be interesting to watch.
