800 euros ??? This is crazy
All these costs without adding the price of games and the price of the online subscription
Even if the next generation is the same price, I’d rather quit this hobby.
fuck that

D is leading with 61%.
Poor Geoff he’ll be very upset.
$700? Nah… I’m good, thanks.
This got me curious on how Switch 2 will be priced. The timing is right there to low blow PS5 Pro.
How much did Rachet and Clank sell first week?
£700!?!?
And that’s with no disc drive or vertical stand?
No. Hell no. Absolutely not. Indubitably not at all.
And just wait for Digital Foundry, they’ll make this deal look even worse than it is right now when they show comparisong with a 4070, 7800XT or any series 5000 from Nvidia
I’m still a bit speechless right now but one thing I’ll focus on here is the really annoying spin I’m seeing from the pro Sony guys who’re attempting to paint this as some sort of high end luxury product for the hardcore enthusiasts who can afford it…
But it’s not. It’s a +45% rendering power for nearly double the price (digital edition PS5 is 450 euros). I mean the implications for the industry here (& for what’s coming next gen)… wow.
I’m really happy to see gamers loving Astro; that team needs a win considering their origins (they’re legends in my book) and I want nothing but the best for them. Now gamers need to start supporting it!
this just tells everyone who cares about performance: build yourself a nice PC with a NVidia GPU please
Well, that reveal has completely put me off getting one, €800! It could’ve been more justifiable if the graphical improvements were noticeable, but I’d rather put the cash towards a new PC for that price.
The mood in the lead-up to this reveal, outside of the Sony die-hards, was that it wasn’t needed. Sure, some games are struggling a bit, but they by & large look and perform great. For me to change my mind, the Pro will need to run the likes of Death Stranding 2 & GTA 6 to run at 60 fps and at least 1440p.
They should’ve had some devs from their various teams speaking about the benefits to them and presenting the games in a way that doesn’t require a Digital Foundry-esque breakdown to see what’s better.
I don’t know the difference between support and brag.
Best I can do is braggadocious.
PS6 releases at $999.99 - “Controller, disc drive, vertical stand, side panels, HDMI cable and power cord sold separately.”
Apple and their charging cable not included move.
I’d consider this price for a console-PC hybrid. I‘m not in any capacity open to it for a normal console where I can‘t even play my games on the go without buying yet another device.
The other funny thing about that presentation was that they had the balls to show the system’s capabilities with showing a remaster of a PS4 game (with minimal enhancements) and a cross-gen game…and both of them also not having any form of Ray Tracing.
I am guessing that this was a thing because either their 1st party roadmap is completely f’d or they simply don’t give a f. Like what is going on at Sony right now. lol
