PlayStation 5 |OT| This SSD has no limits

No new BC games in PS+ for the second month in a row. Anybody surprised?

I’m still waiting on Ridge Racer 2.

Sony is working hard on PS3 BC and that’s why they cannot offer more older games /s

A lot of old games will for sure have a lot of trouble with licensing. Games like racing ones will 100% have issues with music for example.

Oh sure, I just singled out Ridge Racer because it’s one they’ve actually advertised as coming. Someday… probably…

So $200 US / €240 / £210 .

Any price on the swapable joycon units, yet?

Not that I have seen.

Also, it only being available in white is a non-starter for me.

Someone posted that the replaceable stick module will sell for $20 / €25 / £20.

I think that’s just for 1 of them, because it would be a great price for a full set of 2 replacements. It feels like a price of $40 for full replacement is more likely.

EDIT: From the blog post @ DualSense Edge wireless controller for PS5 launches globally on January 26 – PlayStation.Blog

In addition, the replaceable stick modules will be available globally on January 26 for a recommended retail price (RRP) of $19.99 USD/¥2,680 (including tax)/€24.99/£19.99.

I’m starting to believe Sony is the source of worldwide inflation.

All that R&D funding and all they need to do is allow the Xbox line of controllers to work and they’d have a better product for a lower price. :face_with_hand_over_mouth: (half sarcasm. Objectively* the Xbox controller is more ergonomical, subjectively some may prefer the Sony design.)

*from personal research of medical journals, PT, OT and surgical assessments and interviews while I was in college and in programs for hand rehabilitation.

As much as people talk about a merged Playbox console, my dream is the ability to take the only controller I can play on at length to my platform or service of choice. :crossed_fingers:

Decided to preorder through Target because I had some gift cards to use and of course the 5% redcard discount. Does anyone know if Target is good about hitting day1 release dates with shipping or will I be stuck waiting past day1?

Another thought about God of War Ragnarok and why I bought it physical instead of digital…

I’m not very pleased with my PS5. It almost never gets played and PlayStation didn’t even have an E3 showcase. PS4 games are continuing into 2024. The announced first party PS5 games feel years out. I might sell my PS5 depending on the price of PSVR2. I’m excited about PSVR2 but anything more than $500 will be a no from me. God of War Ragnarok might be the last hoorah for PS5 from me. If so I’ll be looking forward to PS6 or a PS5 mid console refresh.

Inscryption is currently on sale at 22.46 AUD right now, i’m currently debating with myself if i should pick it up or not, i don’t really play card games but i heard really great things about Inscryption so i might give it a go.

Prepare for disappointment. They just priced a controller at $200, if you are holding out hope that a VR headset with specs on par and in some cases better than the $1000 Valve index is going to come in at $500 you are gonna have a bad time. I would be legitimately shocked if it is less than $800

Target, generally in my experience, does not ship games for day 1. The dates they are showing you are likely accurate.

I am in the same boat as you though. The last time I turned on my PS5 other than to check for updates was when Horizon II came out. I will play through GoW and then it will probably go untouched again till the next exclusive game I care about releases, which who knows when that will be because Sony hasn’t shown anything for a long time.

Previews for GOWR are out, glowing reactions as usual.

Gonna try to avoid the vids/pics because I don’t need to be sold on it. I’m already there on day 1.

same . Im avoiding everything . Gonna go in completely blind .

For what is my secondary exclusives only gaming console, PlayStation 5 has thus far exceeded my expectations in regards to their exclusives. All three (Miles, Ratchet and HFW) first party games have been excellent while Kena was great and compared to PlayStation 4 in the same time period of what will be 26 months once 2022 ends, it’s a slaughter. In all honesty, it as of now has what will be a four game lead over my Series X going into 2023. Be advised, this is obviously for me since I know majority will read this as me saying it in general when im not.

I pre-ordered God of War Ragnarok an hour ago at GameStop while picking up Gotham Knights (for Series X) and im fully expecting it to be my 2022 game of the year. I’m expecting Spider Man 2 and Stellar Blade in 2023 with Wolverine and Rise of the Ronin in 2024. I also have timed exclusives like Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Final Fantasy XVI and possibly Forspoken.

The cross-generation duration for PlayStation 5 is disappointing but playing HFW and in a few weeks, GOWR, they both look and perform/play better than games that are current generation only so I can’t really complain.

For Xbox Series X, I should have Redfall and Starfield in 2023 at the minimum but I was always expecting Microsoft to be a few years behind while Sony was simply further ahead.

I know a lot of the other stuff on the PlayStation side leaves a lot to be desired but in fairness, that is why it’s my secondary gaming console. Hehehe. As long as I keep getting at least two great to excellent exclusives a year, I will be very happy with my PlayStation 5 and will probably go down as my best secondary gaming console in history.

I gotta be honest, the GoW screenshots aren’t really blowing me away visually.

Agreed, the game looks good, but nothing mind blowing. To me, game-play is the most important thing and for what I’ve been reading they did a fantastic job refining old mechanics and adding new ones, so happy to hear that, but am not going to drop $70 bucks day one. I’ll wait for a price drop to get it, anyways thanks to game-pass I’ve have a huge backlog of games that I need to play. :upside_down_face:

Well it’s a cross-gen title, after all.

To be fair for GoW more of the same would be pretty great as is so long as they can maintain the standard of the prior game
