Yeah they are kind of fortunite in a way, while I’m sure they’d be happy to be able to get more stock out there this also gives them breathing space to change the public perception of Xbox and turn the generation more in their favour. I mean it’s gonna be another year or two of shortages yet, that’s a lot of time to keep pushing the benefits of xbox and gamepass and to start seeing all these exclusives start hitting.

the problem is that due to delays they cannot push Game Pass either.
Pushing consoles out there is more important to gamepass than the exclusives as of right now.
Halo and Forza barely moved the needle for Gamepass because of the lack of hardware to push Gamepass on.

True but they’ve got another year or two of shortages yet, by that time Activision will have closed and we’ll have the entire back catalogue on game pass and a bunch of exclusives announced from the acquisition - we’ll likely be past this current dry spell with all the currently announced major titles starting to hit and they’ll have live service titles like Halo Infinite hitting their stride. And that’s before any further acquisitions to move the needle.

Xbox would be around 14-15M which is absolutely brilliant news for Xbox, being just 5M behind PS5 is mostly because of chip shortages and thanks to Series S.

No one except for Microsoft executives have the numbers. The only thing everyone else has is absolute lower bound estimates based on various public PR-ish statements. So if anyone who isnt a Microsoft executive says a number keep that in mind.

Almost every PlayStation event has better reveals than Xbox and I feel I can say that safely without upsetting the hardcore. The Xbox event may be more exciting than this and could start getting the ball rolling with all their studios/IP.
I’d tend to be more agreeable if that was their big Showcase for the year and not a SoP.
I’m sure XBox’s show will be just fine and pretty good but we know Sony has more to show too…
You do raise a good point - We still have the huge multiplayer/games as service reveal which could be great for their finances and fans of those games or alienating to the core single player fan base.

FF15 had an action oriented battle system? I only remember holding a button and watching. The real fight for me was staying awake. I had no idea what was going on; in the combat and the story. (I’m exaggerating a bit here for flavor and some fun.)
For FF16, though, my interests has dropped to zero if this becomes a Final Devil May Fantisize mash up.
To be transparent, I still think the pinnacle of FF was VI. I despised the block polygons on grainy prerendered backgrounds and when they went fully 3d, the games felt like an RPG on rails. I just could not get invested. After the full 3d games came out, I was very bored by the pacing and writing/translation exacerbated by the too frequent loading screens.
I think I’m just bitter about the full speed migration to “twitch” action RPGs. I miss the turn based games like Xenogears, Legends of Legaia, Wild Arms, the older FF, Skies of Arcadia, Blue Dragon etc. So, I’ll still keep an eye out and see if my impression improves as it closes in on a PC or Xbox release.
Yeah it’s the Twitch action system I’m referring to. I very much prefer the strategic opportunities with turn based systems.
