PlayStation 5 |OT| This SSD has no limits

I actually think their sub service from what we’ve seen so far is quite enticing and RIGHT NOW looks more appealing to me than GP…:man_shrugging:t2:

In what way? Im not arguing for or against, Im genuinely curious as to what about it has piqued your interest.

I’m getting several 1st and 2nd party games I’ve missed out on since I’m LTTP on the PS5 and getting 3rd party hits (Valhalla, RDR2, NBA 2k, etc.) that I don’t currently own on PS.

Returnal, Demon’s Souls, and Miles are enough to get me in by themselves…

Makes sense. I have been a multi platform gamer since I was a kid, so I look at the service and see a bunch of stuff I have played already and not much else. I own all of the PS5 games included in the subscription at launch.

Im just happy the classic games can be purchased separately. As someone who primarily uses their PlayStation for exclusives and not much else, the service has limited appeal without Day 1 games.

I really dislike that Sony is stuffing the classics category full of PS4 releases like Nathan Drake Collection, Return to Arkham, BioShock Remastered, etc. It’s like they’re trying to fake that their BC support is better than it actually is. Current-gen console remastered versions, while fine on their own, are not the same thing as making classic games available again.

Based on what? you need to say more than I can play half a dozen outdated PS1 games with trophies

If they had a larger extensive library of Ps5 games we can talk.ITs more expensive and has lazy BC library. ITs only more attractive if you don’t care for xbox and are a huge Sony fan

Unfortuantely the games i loved form Sony’s past are nowhere near to be seen on this service

They can’t even be bothered to put out native versions of their old God of War games

I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again. Its a lazy reimaging of PSnow+Ps plus. And the fans are being suckered into it.

18 bucks a month…but well give it to you if you pay us 120 bucks up front. Its a scam. But it is what it is. Gamepass is still better based on the newer games it has.

HAving lived in UK for most of my life this is hilarious

PAL games just run slower. This is a fact.

Absolute lazyness. Didn’t they do this with the PS1classic thing?

They sure did.

Ill reckon Ill just keep using duckstation.

I never played Halo until Infinite and yes, I can agree that the combat/gameplay/grapple hook/shooting mechanics were all excellent. This along with the audio and story/characters is why it was my personal game of the year for 2021. TLOU2 is superior to TLOU in every aspect except for the aspect that matters most in this franchise - story/characters.

Haven’t played the series since FH 3 which was the best racing game in 2016 so I would imagine that FH 5 retains that title in general. It’s an excellent game. Honestly, don’t give two shits about Gran Turismo or Forza Motorsport for that matter. If I was to ever play a racing game again, it would only be Forza Horizon. I would say it’s certain for the first expansion to show up at the showcase. I don’t think it will be shadow dropped. Could be late June though like the Sea of Thieves POTC expansion a year ago.

The visuals in God of War Ragnarok are still going to be a 10/10 but the 2018 game was very impressive visually so the “jump” isn’t there like it was for Horizon Forbidden West or Rift Apart compared to their previous games. Yeah, im day one too and sadly, looks like im going to owe my friend $20 since I kept saying March 2023 and that doesn’t look like it’s going to get pushed that far out.

Yeah, I can understand getting tired of the same map in Spider Man but at the same time, would you take a new map in exchange for sacrificing new gameplay elements and a better story/characters? I wouldn’t. Of course, hasn’t every Spider Man game (and movie) been based in NYC? If so, I doubt that they’ll change it. Besides, the assets for the world are basically done already. I can’t see Insomniac throwing that away but we’ll see.

I’m a Ubisoft fanboy and the reason why I would take Horizon/Tsushima over Assassin’s Creed/Far Cry is simple - the combat/gameplay is superior and the story/characters is better. Look at Far Cry, since Vaas, they always have a great antagonist but he’s always wasted for one reason or another. Not only all of that but I did enjoy the worlds of Horizon and Tsushima more because with AC/FC and others, as great as their worlds are, they always do similar worlds to what they’ve already done. Ubisoft should have had an AC game in Japan a very long time ago and just never did it.

Changing the protagonist is 50/50. The Ezio trilogy is still considered the best AC games in the franchise so you could say changing the protagonist hurt Ubisoft in this regard even though their characters since then have still been at least good.

For Horizon, the story centers around Aloy. Why would they change it? In Halo 5, you play as someone else right? And the vast majority hated that decision. Even someone like me who only played Infinite knows that Halo is all about Master Chief and I sure as hell wouldn’t want to play as someone else. So sometimes, changing the protagonist is a negative.

If a character is loved, you don’t change it. If a character is liked, better off just ending the franchise as a trilogy like Horizon. If a character is hated, then you change it with the next game.

Strong points peter420. I would concede that keeping a popular character can be important for games and it goes without saying that certain iconic characters (like Master Chief) should never be replaced. A trilogy for Alloy then moving on seems about right. I personally didn’t need more than one game but hey not everything is meant for me. PlayStation is trying to create Assassin’s in Japan with Ghosts of Tsushima but when it comes to an assassin game the blueprint is proven. Ezio trilogy is the strongest argument for why you mix things up every game. A new setting and character is a big part of the fun and appeal. New settings are how Assassins Creed became so popular after leaving Ezio behind. There will be a dedicated audience but it won’t draw new people in and in fact will lose fans with every repeat as people tire of the sameness of it all.

Spider-Man and New York are a good fit. There needs to be attempts to make the city feel new and fresh every game though. Snow in New York felt pretty lazy. We are in a new generation now though so perhaps a more vibrant city will do the trick. I’m not opposed to using New York every time but it definitely needs to feel different.

Thanks.

The story wasn’t concluded in Horizon Zero Dawn and Sony rarely green lights games that are just one and done. Even Days Gone was meant to be a franchise but Sony axed that. Tsushima isn’t about an assassin, it’s about a samurai. Both are different characters.

Assassin’s Creed became popular because they copied CDPR’s The Witcher 3 and after Unity/Syndicate, Ubisoft needed to change the franchise. Difference is that there’s around 10 or so AC games while there’s only two Horizon games and only one Tsushima game. I’m not expecting either to go past three games.

I disagree with losing fans if it’s the same because Valhalla is the most popular and it isn’t much different than Origins/Odyssey if at all and as someone who’s completed all three, if anything Valhalla is the worse of the three by far.

We’ll see what Insomniac does with Spider Man 2. I am expecting optional co-op which doesn’t apply to me but I can see some quests using Miles as AI so you can pull off double team moves which I believe were in Arkham City but im not 100% sure.

I loved Spider Man 2018 and Miles. Didn’t mind the same location because the combat/gameplay/traversal and story/characters were excellent. Have to wait and see what happens but if I get better side quests, new combat/gameplay mechanics while all the great stuff remains, I won’t have any issue with playing in NYC yet again.

So now I’m wondering what this PS5 generation will look like. I haven’t been very excited about the PS5 generation (and my fear is that it will just be tired sequels remakes and remasters mostly.)

1 more Horizon Forbidden West game to complete the trilogy

2 more Ghosts games to complete the trilogy

God of War - PlayStation pillar :infinity:

Spider-Man- PlayStation pillar :infinity:

Last of Us 3

Gran Turismo 8

Anything I’m missing?

God of War has already announced to be wrapping up it’s current story arc with the second game I believe, not that it couldn’t continue in some other form of course. Horizon Forbidden West absolutely set itself up for a sequel but interestingly I feel that’s a storyline with a definitive end they COULD reach in a third game.

Sony hasn’t revealed much thus far. You are missing Wolverine which im super hyped for. Best of all, it’s going to be M rated.

I do think God of War will continue but in a different mythology. There’s a lot of unannounced rumored games. Santa Monica has a second game led by Cory Barlog but we don’t know what it is yet. Bend Studio is working on a new IP which has been confirmed by several people but no one knows what it is. It’s definitely not Days Gone related. Pixel Opus has a new AAA IP. They did Concrete Genie. Housemarque has a new IP coming. Hoping it’s not a roguelike game. Team Asobi is doing a third person platformer which will most likely be a new Astro Bot game. I’m also hoping for a Rivet spin off game.

There will be other games that get announced. I will say that for me, the first 18 months of PS5 have been way better than PS4. I had Knack, Infamous First Light, The Order 1886 and Until Dawn for PS4 compared to Miles Morales, Rift Apart and HFW. It’s not even close for me.

I’m hoping for a Jak & Daxter remake trilogy since I never played the originals and no, im not going to do so. These get remade like Ratchet 2016, I will be very happy.

I never really considered God of War ending. It still feels very hot, I don’t imagine it’s going anywhere but then again sometimes talented studios create something new and that becomes just as big. I’m curious if PlayStation can form an identity in the PS5 generation that separates itself from its popular PS4 games. I’d like to see Uncharted come back in a big way, that would be cool. I’m not really sure they even have a sense of urgency right now. From PlayStations perspective the consoles are selling out, I’d say they might be reluctant to show us too much until the chip shortage improves, which could mean sparse announcements and constant delays. Personally I want to know far more than what they’ve announced so far.

I loved Until Dawn. That had mind blowing graphics for the time. If Supermassives new game is mediocre they should definitely reteam up with PlayStation for their next game. Those two seem to work better together than separate.

I think a Ratchet sequel makes sense. It’s a good bet there will be another game this generation. Not something I would be excited about though.

Yeah how could I forget Wolverine. I can’t wait to see that game in action.

Also I would love another Astro Bot game. Astro’s Playroom is fantastic.

I enjoyed the first half of Until Dawn but was so disappointed with the second half because of the direction the game went into. My friend is hyped for their next game which releases in a few weeks. I will be surprised if Sony does another one of these types of games unless it’s from an internal studio.

I think the Rivet spin off game will be similar to Miles. Half the size and length of Rift Apart. But I am hoping for another Ratchet game as well. It’s the only “platformer” that I have any interest in playing because there’s combat, exploration, etc. in the game. It’s why im also hoping for a Jak & Daxter remake because it’s similar to Ratchet.

Wolverine baby!!! I can’t wait!!

Never played Playroom but I know it’s pretty good.

Hopefully some new IP’s and not remakes. Long gone are those PS2 days of unique games like ICO and SOTC.

Judging from what we’ve seen…Sony is on the remake train this gen. TLOU Remake, paying for SH remake, rumoured MGS remake, Bloodborne remake… Its remake galore.

The only game I’ve want a remake of is probably the first Jak and Daxter but we’ll never get that.
