yep. They are doing very well with what they have anyway. I’m not sure when we’ll see an FF game on Xbox again. If FF16 is 2023, going by what FF7 is right now, 2025 at the earliest for Xbox, and if the game is super successful, then expect a similar limbo of “lmao never, but keep hoping I guess”
That and Square is a multinational company with stuff in areas I doubt Sony wants or needs.
Basically, if you’re a huge FF fan, the only place to play them is on PS5 and later on, PC via a shitty port.

I’m glad I personally don’t care about a single Square Enix franchise outside maybe Tomb Raider which I hope MS snags with CD in the coming year.

If MS buys CD+ Eidos then Square might become cheap enough for Sony to buy them . But then again , Sony is already getting all the benefits anyway without owning them .

I’m 50/50 on both Forspoken and Final Fantasy XVI. Thus far, Square Enix is tied with Ubisoft for me with 3 games this generation that I have already played and completed.
Do you have any proof of this ?
I really hope if CD is gonna be for sale, then Eidos will have to be as well. They’re sister studios and have been relying on each other for a lot of things since before the square enix acquisition. Would be weird and sad to separate them away haha. So basically, SE has to sell out their western division completely which I think is something not likely to happen for a global company to just castrate themselves into a largely Japanese corner like that.

yes, they opened a new studio that’s gonna focus on future Tomb Raider games. So expect a new one in the works already
Fuck no. I think I watched one trailer and then saw it on worst 2021 game lists from ACG and Matty so that’s all I saw of that game. lol
Third game was Nier Replicant which while not as great as Automata was still a damn good game.

Hell no. It’s like the worst game of the year. Shit is a 49 on OC. Necromunda Hired Gun which was borderline broken when it launched is a 58. I feel sorry for those who got suckered into that game. lol

You do know Square Enix isnt just a set of gaming studios right? Its a whole entertainment conglomerate worth like 7B at the moment and Sony has like only double that amount in hand.
I mean, while I agree that Sony isn’t likely to make a purchase that large, cash on hand isn’t the only indicator of a companies ability to buy. They can take on debt, offer stock, etc. Would that be worth doing, Im not convinced, but it is technically “possible”.
Sure I just dont think Sony is interested in all the other stuff Square Enix dabbles in moreso than cash on hand.
