Phil Spencer shares intent to honour all previous agreements and desire to keep Call of Duty on PlayStation

There are ways to use an Xbox kontroller, or third parties with the correct stick placement on PS lol.

Of course I value the console in general, and everything around it, but if the games goes to PS it’s obvious MS doesn’t give a shit about that, and I’ll take the hint.

Black Ops: Call of the Duty

Diablo and warceaft on PC gamepass :scream: :scream: Still, this thing is expected to close next year. I dont know why should anyone start assuming things right out of the gate with the coming interviews and whatever.

Remember there were lots of people throwing stuff online with Zenimax: -Exclusives -Some Exclusives -No exclusives -Just gamepass deal, nothing will change. -Big stuff will remain exclusive, the rest wont. -Big stuff will NOT be exclusive, the rest will…and so on and so on.

We are going to dance for a year and a half until the acquisition ends and just THEN, they will reveal their true plans with Activision.

I didn’t really interpret it as COD will be on PlayStation as long as they accept a GamePass app.

I got either:

  • COD is on PlayStation in perpetuity

  • COD is on PlayStation provided Sony stops paying devs to miss Xbox.

Personally I think it’s the former. Not because MS “can’t afford to miss the revenue” or some shit. Rather I think it’s because you can strip all the marketing, exclusive content etc. off PlayStation for the brand. Continue making money off COD on PS and just keep pumping the money back into other studios to make cool/compelling GamePass experiences.

Heck maybe all of COD multiplayer goes FTP and the campaign entries because an every three year thing. Other shooters like Halo, Doom, Wolfenstein, Overwatch can help provide a steady stream of shooty-shooty-bang-bang without having to direct virtually all of Activisions developers at COD every year.

I was big on Bethesda exclusivity from day one. But I see a lot more benefits to COD being multiplatform then I do an Elder Scrolls game.

I think it’s very stupid and just a reflection of how dumb law/business can be that Phil can call up Playstation and tell them their plans, tweet it out, but isn’t legally able to say 100% what he means.

I just hate how vague Phil is with a lot of things. Hes always been like that. Don’t get mewrong the guys has done amazing things. I feel like we spent like halfof last gen playing what if scenarios and that should of ended at the start of this gen and here we are. Another couple years of guessing

Indeed. We have to dance around for a YEAR about what “Desire” means, arguing back and forth comparing quotes from the Bethesda acqusition, eventually driving you mad to the point where you ban me again.

I think it is probably ill advised to read into the tweet at all. It seems like short term expectation massaging to me.

I remember all the mental gymnastics from Bethesda arguing that they “clearly” meant it was staying multiplat…then woop! Wrong.

Now some of those same people are beating the same drum now. They will let you know the truth in about looks at watch… 12 months or so

Another one in regards to Minecarft

“There’s no reason for the development, sales, and support of the PC/Mac, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3, PS4, Vita, iOS, and Android versions of Minecraft to stop. Of course, Microsoft can’t make decisions for other companies or predict the choices that they might make in the future.”

Microsoft has confirmed this, saying that the company “plans to continue to make Minecraft available across all the platforms on which it is available today: PC, iOS, Android, Xbox and PlayStation.”

“We are going to maintain ‘Minecraft’ and its community in all the ways people love today, with a commitment to nurture and grow it long into the future,” added Phil Spencer, head of Xbox at Microsoft.

Sooo yeahh…I suggest we wait until the acquisition ends. But GODDAM! an entire year going through this is…man…

Yes, I don’t give a rats ass about CoD exclusivity just to be clear on that. If it can be used to get other benefits for Xbox, so be it. Just don’t put GP on PS and kill Xbox. “Microsoft Gaming”… yeah not really into third party publisher fandom, is that even a thing?

Will be a glorious permanent ban I suppose

Hmmmmm…

That does seem more clear cut than what Phil said about CoD, but CoD also mentioned PlayStation which this does as well…

Geez. Gonna be a long year.

I thought I did until that tweet.

IMHO it would be a very bad idea to release GP on PS5, it’d mean the death of Xbox (the name and the console you know)

But we’ve seen dumber things from MS on the gaming section, they are not as predictable as Sony.

And if i recall correctly, it’s not that long since the last time MS talked about having tried putting their Gamepass on PS/switch , so it’s fair to assume it’s something they are looking for actively?

Is that your Desire… Or Your Intent? :smirk:

I mean, Warzone is still a thing and I fully expect the next 2 COD games will be on playstation. But after that :smiling_imp:

Both

You can use a Xbox controller on PS? I seriously didn’t know that.

Agreed on everything.
