Just another day in Xbox land.

I mean of course Xbox is dying, that must be why they are fighting tooth and nail on their biggest acquisition ever, they just want to spend all that money for nothing and then give ABK out for free and leave the gaming market!

I seriously hate the internet sometimes, where a new generation being influenced by ignorant YouTubers who are self proclaimed experts in any subject whatsoever tell them what to think and use click bait videos and fake drama in order to make more money and ignorant people just buy it. It’s seriously depressing as the ones with actual good content and analysis that are subject matter experts in there respective fields get the less clicks just because they try to have a civilized conversation with their audience.

Although I expect most Xbox die hards will appreciate the interview, a lot of casuals and fans of other consoles are using this as another opportunity to dunk on Xbox, calling out P3 for the continuous PR excuses etc. Even casual Xbox fans get swayed by the influencers that have a habit of putting a negative spin on everything.

That’s why I was hoping in this instance Xbox would stay silent until maybe Starfield, Forza and Hellblade 2 released, and then come out and say what happened with Redfall and what changes they made to ensure these latest releases came out great. Gives people less chance when they can already see the change.

Nah even the whole ‘pr excuse’ rings hollow. The one thing xbox has over PS is someone who can actually talk in front of a camera and not be a total buffoon, that really upsets some.

I think Microsoft simply didn’t want to set a precedent. It would be much worst to simply ignore the team and send out Arkane developers completely on their own. This experience simply builds trust so that for future, more successful endeavors Arkane knows Microsoft has their back.

Xbox Series X owners were promised games and power. Instead of that, we are now over a year and a half without a major first-party game, with fiascos like 30fps Redfall and many multiplatform games (even Bethesda’s) being worse than on PS5, our console being held back by a weaker brother, all while the company practically tells us that “it is what it is”.

Xbox Series X owners were shafted.

I really appreciated the bit at about minute 21 where he goes on to say that they showed Redfall at 60fps on PC when it was going to be 30fps on console. That they need to be more transparent on what the console player is getting, that the console player is the most committed xbox player and that the console player is the most financially committed. I also like that he says even though he is excited about the showcase it’s about delivering great games on a steady cadence(they think they’re at the stage that they can deliver a good game every quarter) and that the community is tired of the promises, they need to have those games in their hands. Let’s hope they do deliver on that as I think that’s 90% of their issues

No, Series S is not holding back the Series X SKU. Such a strange take people try and peddle. If a game is on PC as well, look at those minimum requirements and ask the question again.

Speak only for yourselves.

I’m a very happy Xbox Series X owner.

I bought a Series X because of a 20 years trend in which Xbox was better for third party multiplats than PlayStation, i.e. specifically in 16 years out of those 20, Xbox was the place to play Assassin’s Creed, Call of Duty, Resident Evil, Far Cry, Elder Scrolls etc.

In all but the 2013-2017 period, Xbox was the best place for a console player to be. So I understand how Spencer & Xbox focusing more on services now can be interpreted as a sort of abandonment of the core console hardware fanbase. I was an Xbox fan long before Game Pass & even though I’ve enjoyed the sub over the last few years, it’s not the reason I bought a Series X.

So when I see the 12tf ‘most powerful’ console getting shafted by the PS5 in multiplats to the extent it’s ‘saved’ by its vrr range more often than not, I’m perplexed tbh. It’s not just a power issue either, it’s about commitment to the platform. And when Xbox itself releases Ghostwire & Redfall in such a chaotic state in terms of performance… it’s a bit incomprehensible.

And the sales numbers aren’t reassuring either because the number of Series X’s sold versus the PS5 (again, just the Series X specifically because it’s the most on par with the PS5 in terms of specs), it’s practically a niche piece of hardware owned by few. It’s not a good place to be.

And that’s my point, i.e. what they’re selling (Game Pass, services) requires constant first party content & that content has just had a big failure.

But the hardware side of things & the system itself should always be immune as long as it has great third party support, which the Xbox has.

So yeah, I differentiate between Game Pass & Xbox hardware because the latter is not dependent on the same flow of first party content as the former. Someone can theoretically buy a Series X & enjoy the best games on the system… which aren’t even first party Xbox titles (Elden Ring, RE4 Remake etc.). But this barely gets advertised or mentioned, even by Xbox themselves.

IMO we’re hit a point of marketing ‘no return’ where Xbox might have painted themselves into a corner which is “Game Pass, Game Pass, Game Pass” to the detriment of their hardware, i.e. Xbox console hardware which for me was always better than the competition.

You are lucky you got a limited run of consoles owned by millions. Will be worth money some day…

Once we’ve had the Xbox show and also the Starfield show where the game looks in great shape, everything looking great…

Surely these media sources will stay positive, right?

I’m sure they will find something, but I don’t give a shit. Give me a great show, games to look forward to, Starfield looking bad ass and I’m GOOD!

“Starfield might be the best RPG game this year and it is a missed opportunity to not release it on PS5!..”

Oh it’s 100% guaranteed we’re going to see such articles again, lots. :joy::pensive:

My guess will be even if the show is great end the games look like mush haves, the rhetoric will be let’s see them when there out. The good thing is Phil said the exact same thing

It will be interesting to see the reaction to 30fps for Starfield. Various influencers and journalists already salivating at the mouth for the sweet sweet click revenue. Redfall was doomed as soon as that rhetoric set in weeks back, the way it turned out just collapsed it completely. Be interesting to see how much support the game gets going forward.

Starfield looks great but its not enough to persuade someone to buy an Xbox. That will be a line repeated ad nauseum for every game that does well.

They ignore that Spencer isn’t looking to make people buy xbox’s but to bring them into the ecosystem however he can.

I think its pretty clear that few who are PS5 only gamers will buy an Xbox to play Starfield or any game - or even any number of games. Because MOST people pick a console play it and that’s it. They don’t often even know what games are available elsewhere.
