Thank you, that’s another thing I get annoyed by, how they use “Coming to Gamepass” as a catch all marketing term when not everyone who’s on the service are gonna be getting it, especially sucks when every games media and influencer just goes with it “can’t believe its coming to Xbox gamepass day 1”, well not everyone on the service is getting it. They feel the need to specify when strategy and other niche games hit gamepass pc only but don’t care to specify when all these games skip it. It’s all just revealed in fine print. It’s like how sony had the PS5 event before launch showing all the amazing trailers, gameplay and left all the actual important details like cross gen, 70 dollars, etc in fine print.
The “Coming to Xbox Gamepass” as a catch all should stop or get more specific right in the marketing headlines and not somewhere deep in fine print that you gotta discover later.
MS is not in control of whether or not third party games come to gamepass, extenuating contracts and the publishers of those games control that. Whine about things MS can control.
They can control their horrible ass MS Store to be easier for devs to port games to, why are you presuming that can’t be a significant barrier for these games coming to PC gamepass? They’re the ones still hanging onto the mess that is UWP. Nier automata came to pc gamepass now after a whole ass year or more, Doom Eternal came months later, ea play is still not up, POE2 dead fire came later, but not late enough to believe it had anything to do with third party deals or contracts which makes sense to believe it was a holdup for the MS Store version to be up. If they fix their ms store, half if not more of these problems simply would go away. Here’s what an actual developer said on this topic. Having Win32 as an option on gamepass pc would go a long way, but I doubt MS will do that. Only time will tell.
I was saying how Outriders might not be on Gamepass PC because of the problems with porting to MS Store, which is indeed in MS’ control.
Not sure if that’s entirely relevant, but yeah, hopefully as GDK is adopted en masse games will be developed for both Xbox and PC at the same time and not need expensive porting later, but that depends on the developers opting to work on GDK as opposed to any other general environment on PC if that’s cheaper and easier. It’s gonna take a while I guess, as said, gotta wait and see.
