Just watched the pilot, it’s damn good!
Loved the 80’s miniseries with Chamberlain and Mifune also at the time so i’m excited for this. Clavell’s books are written a lot like theater plays with lots of conversations at just a few sets, hope they nailed the adaptation this time too.
I’ve never seen that before. I will make sure to watch that. I assume story wise the new one isn’t a direct copy?
Worth a watch for sure, the 80’s series is still good.
Yeah both series are adaptations of the same book so i’d think they will be similar but that doesn’t bother me,i know the story by heart anyway (have read the book several times).
Keep hearing good things about the new series and the cast looks excellent to me so hope we have a new epic series in the making.
Thanks for the rec, finished it, extremely excellent show. The performances are incredible . The final episode and final 20 minutes were something else, wow.
Dune Part Two.
When it comes to visual presentation it’s fantastic, music is awesome just as the first one. The story had some cool stuff and a twist, but at times it felt stuff was dragging and slightly got tedious. I was also hoping for some new creatures especially when Javier’s character mentions them but alas. For me it’s not the masterpiece en peak of cinema like a lot of reviews and just people throw around.
However, it took me two viewings of the first one to really appreciate it, so who knows, might be the same here. Something story related and maybe someone can answer me that.
The twist of course is
that we find out Paul is a Harkonnen and I was waiting for something to happen with that. But it was just a reveal and that was it. I am gonna assume this is saved for part 3? Well, except for the fact that he tells the last guy he fights that he’s family. Oddly enough no shocked respond by Chani.
I started to watch and then realised it’s a weekly drop so decided to wait for a binge session .
Looked very promising though.
Dune 2 is a certified cinematic masterpiece
Just Watched Dune 2. Peak Fiction. Kino. That 3rd act was beautiful. Thank you Denis Villeneuve.
Shoutout to Hans Zimmer as well. That ending song “kiss the ring” really hit hard. True goat material
oh I really wanted to look up that OST. Thank you for the title.
I think I understand what he means but the spread of streaming services? They’re already pretty spread?
As much is the cinema experience is valuable and unmatched, there’s a lack of real effort to preserve it for home viewing that is constantly neglected by most. I want 4K BluRays with the IMAX scenes and the careful audio mastering for home theaters, it seems only Nolan gets that.
Going to watch Dune 2 with the tickets cost me a little more than $60 and 6 hours of my day. I’m not going to do it again even with how much I loved it, I really hope they have a great 4K BluRay release with IMAX ar.
@nrXic - I have just seen your patreon question this week and didn’t realise you were also a man of culture .
I have no idea how many times I have watched Top Secret over the years.
Amazon’s Fallout looks good and I have faith in it because of the names attached.
Which is one reason why I had little faith in Halo the TV series. I detailed it in the official Halo thread but it had to do with the showrunner’s history of doing a teen drama like show prior.
Dream Scenario
Nicolas Cage is awesome in his role. And I find it a very special movie, original probably even. Then again, it’s A24. It often offers unique stuff.
Go watch it!
Is this one where he’s bald Wolverine ? I’ll have to check it out.
I’m on a bit of retro viewing binge lately, mostly watching things I watched as a kid/teen. I think my next one will be:
I know it’s not a fantastic film or anything but I’ve lost count the amount of times I watched that
