Movies and TV shows thread

Oh yes, true.

Both threads have thousands of posts and anime tends to have its own fanbase, so I think it’s fair to have a separate thread.

Also, makes it easier for me to avoid it, lol.

I thought it was great. But I think it’s one of those films that is meant to be seen on the big screen . Watching it at home it doesn’t have the same impact

Started watching the Netflix show Murder Mindfully. A German dark comedy/crime/thriller/mystery.

Enjoying this a lot!

I don’t usually watch much German content, despite being German myself. But yeah, Murder Mindfully was a good watch.

There’s been a noticeable increase in quality productions since the streaming services started investing in local content here.

Not a Superman fan, but I definitely enjoyed it. It shouldn’t shock me because I greatly enjoyed Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy movies too.

All that commotion on Twitter back when I still visited it about how shitty the costume was, nope. Costume is absolutely fine. And David is a great Supes.

It didn’t blow me away or anything but that’s likely because I’m a bit superheroes tired, I think. Others might be blown away.

Watching Dexter Resurrection as it comes out. Episodes 1 & 2 were pretty good. Gonna try Star Trek The Next Generation later tonight.

Yep, Resurrection is a big surprise. I didn’t expect much of it, but it’s very enjoyable so far.

The one thing I don’t like is how they handled Angela and how she basically just gave up, while Logan died by the hands of Dex. This could’ve been done way better. And it’s a bit odd how quickly he becomes friends with the uber driver.

When you think about how well they are doing with this now and even New Blood had good stuff too, it’s all the more of a shame how the original show ended. Or well, how bad it got after season 4, with a few good episodes here and there.

I didn’t like how they handled those two characters either. I’m glad you’re enjoying the show though. I’m interested to see what happens with Uma Thurman

Really looking forward to seeing where they go with it next.

Bring her Back (2025)

Powerful movie from the same director as Talk to Me. Really enjoyed this one. I really sympathised with the characters and they all did a damn fine job with the acting.

I’m gonna see this either this weekend or next week. I keep hearing good things about it. It’s about damn time we got a quality, actually good MCU movie again.

This week Alien Earth starts on Disney Plus. Haven’t seen a single trailer, know nothing of the story, but am excited.

Soon going to watch Weapons as well, should be a great horror-thriller.

I was disappointed in Weapons and I thought his first film, Barbarian, was considerably better - will happily divulge my critiques once you’ve seen it.

Hmm, that’s interesting. Personally I wasn’t a super big fan of Barbarian. Especially after it went a certain way.

We’ll talk once I’ve seen it.

Seen a few films this summer starting with…

The Naked Gun, which was surprisingly good. I was worried they would blow this one, but the movie was hilarious. The most surprising thing about it…Pamela Anderson was actually really good in it and she NEVER is

Fantastic Four: First Steps was VERY good. Certainly better than the old films, which isn’t saying much as those films sucked big ass. And not the good kind, like Jessica Alba’s

Superman was GREAT! I hear the critisims, I just find most of them to be misguided at best(Jon and Nick) and at worst tyoically dumb anti woke , bro podcaster bullshit…but enough abou Asmongold. This was easily the best Superman I’ve ever seen. Which again isn’t saying much as I found the Christopher Reeve ones to be mediocre and flat out overrated. Superman Returns was just bad and Man of Steele was typical Zach Snyder garbage (sorry/not sorry, Nick). And it featured the WORST Lex Luther ever, played by Jesse Fuck-head-berg

Went to Pets on a Train with my nephew and we had a great time. Very fun movie and even with some references to other movies, that was a nice surprise. Friday I’m going to Bad Guys 2 with my other nephew. Loved the first one and I hear great things about the sequel.

Alright, I just watched Weapons with a friend of mine, she’s also a huge horror fan. I only had seen one trailer and I’m glad it didn’t give too much away.

For a good portion of the movie i had no idea how certain stuff could be related to the main subject of the movie but eventually it came together. I quite liked it, it’s different, for a change. At times it did feel like it was mostly thriller with even almost comedy’ish bits, but thankfully there’s definitely horror in here.

This definitely entertained me more than Barbarian. His previous movie.

I should go see Eden soon, trailer looked interesting and The Ritual too but I expect that to be your typical possession movie again. I wonder if the last Conjuring is going to be truly good as well. Hope it is.

There were moments when people were laughing out loud during the film, so tonally the film does go up and down, especially as one particular segment goes really dark.

It’s definitely a film you should watch at least once. I really enjoyed it.

Started rewatching Game of Thrones and this time gonna watch the final season for the first time. A lot has been said, some enjoyed it, others disliked it or even hated it, I will see for myself.

But man, what a show it still is. So insanely well casted too. You start to care about certain characters that you wouldn’t expect to, it’s just so well done. And man , I was once again dreading to go into The Red Wedding. Had completely forgotten which episode that was, but sheesh, I got goosebumps once again.

This remains a very addictive show too.

I’ve recently (a month ago or so) started watching the Fast and the Furious series.

Just finished watching 6 over the weekend and will be watching 7 next week.

1 and 2 I really like, they seem to be down to earth. Tokyo Drift was okay.

But from 4 and onwards, I’m loving it despite it being over the top with action and super unrealistic scenes and events lol.
