More details about PlayStation Spartacus tiers

Well it works for NSO so…

I subscribe to both PlayStation + and PlayStation Now. I was planning on letting my PlayStation Now lapse in November because I almost never use it. PlayStation + is okay and I like subscribing to it to get my free games of the month. However since I game on PlayStation only for its exclusives I’m finding it harder to justify keeping my PlayStation + service as well. My ps5 mostly collects dust and the new service won’t fix that. If anything it is opening old wounds. I will forever be bitter that all my classic games (thousands of dollars worth!) are tied to the PS3 eco system. Nintendo and Sony are crooks that keep trying to sell us the same games over and over. Never going to play that game, nope. I actually trust the Xbox ecosystem so all multi plats get bought for Xbox. This is the logical thing to do after being screwed over so badly from PlayStation (and Nintendo).

I do expect Sony to convert my ps + ps now so at least I will able to try the new service and judge it for myself day 1.

The latest rumors, at least, are saying that the BC/classic games will also be available for separate purchase. I really hope that means previous purchases carry over. I already own a ton of PS1 and PSP games that I bought on PS3 and Vita.

Can I ask where you heard that? It would be nice to have access to my PS3/P/V games!

Also PS1 and PS2. So that’s my ask of Sony… give us access to our digital PS1, PS2, PS3, Vita, PSP games. You know the ones we already paid for.

Think Nate Drake mentioned it on other Era, he did not know whether a subscription would still be required to play them tough.

So ps now will forever be tied to plus? How will this work on pc?

PlayStation has hit Apple levels of fan loyalty, Sony can release a product that gives you less features/benefits for the same cost or even more and people will cheer. Watch Spartacus get close to Game Pass quickly without having to put their games day 1.

I honestly think Sony/media/fans are going to use Game Pass to compare as in “it’s like game pass” to get people to sign up, not actually compare what both do because people know what Game Pass is so saying it’s like that gives them a quick and easy explanation of what it is.

Is it technically cheaper than PS?

Honestly, I have a feeling they will catch up to gamepass numbers quickly and service won’t be as good. I’m probably a broken record here , but Microsoft needs to market gamepass better because I am in Canada and if I wasn’t in ecosystem I wouldn’t know much about the service. Also, for playstation can’t ignore their large install base because they have huge reach to start off strong with service. I know Microsoft can leverage PC at the moment but many PC gamers don’t even want to touch windows store

It’s a cult.

While I have to wait and see what it actually is confirmed to be, as of now, PS5 is my secondary full/timed exclusives only console and without first party exclusives or third party multi-platform games being available day one on the subscription service, the interest is minimal to non-existent as of now. I don’t care about PS-PS4 games as im done with all of them anyway. Sony needs to give me day one PS5 games. Otherwise, it’s a no thanks.

Agreed. Due to PS+ being at 45M+ subscribers, Game Pass being at 25M+ subscribers and no info on how many paid Gold subscribers there are, Sony will be able to market it as the number one subscription service once it’s released. I wouldn’t be surprised to see this mentioned in their introduction video or blog post when it’s announced.

Not to mention, Sony is not afraid to engage in marketing wars, unlike Microsoft who prefers to friends with everybody (though Microsoft is in Amazon trap there)

Content will ultimately be the key driver. Subscription services aren’t a new concept to people, it is just one now being applied to games. People are capable of seeing Call of Duty on one and not the other.

if his predictions for Spartacus are as good as for the Switch Pro we will have a lot to laugh about.

I feel like Switch Pro is a special scenario. There were so many insiders and reporters saying it was a thing, I would have to guess it was actually planned but clearly the supply shortages changed plans probably pretty late in the game.

If the service includs PS+ to be honest it might be able to catch up considering people might see value in having PS+ as well as whatever Spartacus offers, but in the end it would be the same users but on a different tier basically. A decrease in PS+ usees should be expected with an increase in Spartacus subscribers imo. People in that ecosystem will most likely eat it up.

Im in Canada as well btw, and I know its anecdotal, but lots of people I know are coming back to Xbox thanks to Gamepass and surprisingly, a lot of PC Gamepass users as well, which is something Sony cannot reach with Spartacus.
