More details about PlayStation Spartacus tiers

It could turn out to be a really nice service, especially if they might get cool multiplatform games day one. That’s something that remains to be seen. For me it doesn’t matter much, there’s no telling how long until I’ll get the PS5, no hurry at all. I just hope it won’t stand in the way of Game Pass too much.

Currently I have no hope this service will ever reach Brazil, unfortunately. Even PS Now isn’t here, I’d pay for the service just for download.

Short of either service showing up on the other platform, which is highly unlikely unfortunately, I don’t see either standing in the way of the other. What we’re seeing is the results of healthy competition. If GP pushes Sony to re-evaluate their services to provide more and better than they currently are, that’s a bonus. If Sony sees success and provides certain perks not found on GP, that can in turn push MS to improve or change some things. Both companies investing more in these types of services can be win, win for all gamers. So I’m all for it.

The problem is that it is not the way to change your reputation. Just give credit where credit is due and that’s enough.

In fairness to Grubb he shouldn’t be obligated to be “neutral” so long as he’s not being an asshole who cares? There are tons of Nintendo specific and PlayStation specific commentators and websites who absolutely wear being over enthusiastic fans on their sleeves.

People like Jez Corden etc. got run off, harassed and belittled by fans and peers for being obvious Xbox/MS publications. Often in the same spaces or by the same people who are fine with publications that root for the blue or red team.

i’ll try it if the classic games are games i want to play so i’ll wait for the official confirmation.

Well, I meant more in terms of Sony throwing around their market share weight and making Game Pass deals less attractive to 3rd party developers. I’m not an Activision fan but that acquisition is a big relief to me in that it’s become apparent MS won’t just roll over and be satisfied with letting Sony dictate terms. This is of course all in my purview of “I have a few years of GPU stocked and wouldn’t want to see it diminished.” I’m perfectly willing to enjoy a good, reasonably-priced PS service if that’s what this ends up being but I would much rather stick with Game Pass, I think.

Ha ha, as a matter of fact, I wasn’t exactly picturing Mensa candidates when I wrote that example. Regardless, convenience and inertia could do a lot of heavy lifting for Sony, and it would be a shame. Ideally they’d make a great service and competition would make our money worth more. Thank you for your reassurance

Blessing and Parris in today’s KFGD are befuddled by these pricing tiers, to put it kindly. Also state outright that this is not positioned as a Game Pass competitor but rather a enhancement/rebranding of PS Now.

Game Pass will continue to be the better option, if this is all it is.

That being said l do think it will encourage MS to buy more first party studios, so you’ll have more exclusive game on the Xbox consoles and then this will give you even more reason to go with Game Pass, over Playstation’s version, too.

i’m not in Sonys ecosystem but this sounds like meh. Hiding classic games behind a subscrption service is highly suspect and already sucks over at Nintendos. Pricing is also not good if we consider EA Play - 10 bucks more and not a lot of better value.

I’m just glad that Xbox can clearly point to this and the fact that Playstation has more subscribers for their Activision/Blizzard discussion.

Is the pricing set or placeholder?

I doubt it’s placeholder, but nothing is set if it hasn’t been announced

This service sounds awful. $16 a month for paid demos

so when this comes out is ps plus gonna be 60 a year still or is it gonna switch to month to month like ghamepass

I get the feeling it’s going month to month lol. I don’t see how you get away with having 50% one tier for a 12 month and don’t do it for all of them. And they ain’t doing $112 a year for the top tier for sure.

Well I guess it’s possible, 12 months of ps+ and PS now would only be 120.

How does actual PS users feel about this service, cost and offerings

I don’t really like their idea of paying a subscription for games you might’ve already paid for in the past. Im sure a lot of people would prefer the old games to play natively without a subscription.
