It was under 20% of sales last generation where the Pro models actually gave you a lot since the original base models were anemic. I expect Pro sales to be far less this time around since the base models are powerhouses.
wait so these new consoles are not more powerful?
Yeah, I expect and pro console coming in the future to have a ridiculous price: Iâm talking $700-$800 dollars.
How do you define powerful? These were simply product refreshes. More storage. Newer WIFI. Newer BlueTooth. Newer Controllers. Uses less power.
No, itâs not a pro. Itâs more like a slim.
Microsoft were looking at Nintendo as a merger in 2020. On top of that they were already in discussions with Zenimax and Warner Bros (minus IP) and Satya told Spencer that they were prepared to buy both at the same time, while they had bid for TikTok.
That doesnât tell ya they are all in, I donât know what will.

I donât know why people are surprised. In the time the ABK deal goes through Microsoft made more profit than this deal cost. And they will make even more money in the future. And they will buy expensive stuff in the future.
Sorry for not being clear, when I said âmirroredâ buttons I meant the ABXY buttons on the back.
Which would make it backwards compatible as well and you can play your older Xbox One games but with a better controller because now you can do a lot of functions without taking your thumbs off the sticks.
I suppose Nintendo was the merger to shore up the mobile front for Xbox.
You need to read the full context. Essentially what heâs arguing is that their console business has to account for more gamepass subs than the projection because theyâve cut their cloud investment and PC canât grow as much as needed to compensate.
We have to of course see this in the light of him being deposed and wanting to obviously make Xbox seem as weak in the market as possible.
But two things he said makes me worryâŚone that Xbox or Microsoft gaming as a whole is ânot a strong businessâ this is based on margin which is obvious I guess and by the same metric PlayStation would also be a weak business under Microsoft as the margins pale into insignificance compared to most core MS stuff. Thatâs sort of fine but you then extrapolate that onto their desire to reach hundreds of millions of gamers and you start to see the basic business case here. We have low margins and canât change that. So we aim for volume. But volume was heavily tied into cloud efforts that for the moment at least theyâve pretty much stopped entirely. And the need for console to grow more to reach these targets than they anticipated in 2020 would be a concern as if anything based on what we know their console business is at best flat if not slightly declining. That would be a concern if the decision gateway is indeed 2026/27. At least to me as I see little way they can be on trajectory without cloudâŚ.
That just doesnât seem a very Xbox way to operate to me based on the way theyâve handled owned disc games in their backward compatibility. If they did decide to go fully digital next gen. I would expect them to implement a disc to digital feature so people can transfer disc licences to digital ones (they have at least one patented already).
Wonât make the game preservation people or nuclear submarine workers happy just like last time they tried it but will be fine for the vast majority or users.
Totally agree. This is really bad; how will any business feel about giving the FTC confidential documents ever again.
Apparently theres moreâŚ
how much more?
Seems FTC arenât responsible. Ms mistake or court error it seemsâŚ.one or the otherâŚ.
MS are gonna sue themselves
I donât care. If i want to play older games, i emulate them on a PC. There is no shortage of new games to play. Time is what i need most. Collecting disc game is also a waste of space. Xbox gamers is like 70-80 percent all digital. It will only grow larger. By 2028 it will be for sure 100% digital like on PC Gaming. Embrace it.
The person claiming it wasnât the FTC is âŚfrom the FTC. Excuse me if I donât take them at their word. Ill remain suspicious until I hear actual information.
If this happens, Iâm not getting it. I canât believe they would entertain this direction again after how poorly the Xbox One reveal was received. Youâd think between the fiasco surrounding the XBO and how they are scaling down xcloud investment, they wouldnât go with this approach.
Hopefully these concepts are old and no longer valid.
By 2028 cloud computing will be a very common point of everyday life. Having it as a tool to extend console lifespan in a no brainer
