Microsoft: Wukong not delayed on Xbox over platform limitations

It’s weird that the discourse started back up when the game director essentially said “we’re having a hard time because we’re not the most experienced with this type of engine/game”. He’s not hiding it, and everyone knows the game has been in rough shape on PC and PS5 since launch.

Their should be more backlash from paying customers that got a nearly broken and poorly optimized game then Xbox owners not getting the game yet.

Why the narrative always has to spin to be against Xbox is beyond me. Xbox owners are being done a favor while other platforms are beta testing this game.

He’s always blamed the S rather than admit any deal to prioritise the PS5 - if they need help they could approach Xbox even after all the arguing.

The fact Xbox said some deal has been done is the first time I remember them ever coming out and saying it - and yes sure enough the gaming media have jumped on his latest comments as “proof” Microsoft is lying and the Series S is to blame.

Honestly I wish he’d shut up, reach out to Xbox for help and just get on with his job rather than stoking console wars to his benefit (as it hides any dodgy deals and likely increases sales amongst Sony fanboys).

The reaction has been pretty much the same across media, but one that sums it up particularly well with the usual “Xbox lies, the Series S is to blame for everything wrong in the world” is this - PushSquare for me show themselves to be petty little console warriors particularly in the article text.

I know it’s all click bait to drive engagement but they really seem pretty rabid in their hatred of the S:

There is a full on gamefaqs tier, console war thread filled with drive by shitposts from clueless, armchair developers in otherera so yeah this tool knew very well what he was doing by talking about the Series S again.

At this point as you said he should STFU and if he is “concerned” about their optimization skills he should ask MS for help since he is unable to make his own game run decent in a current gen console…it’s really that simple. :man_shrugging:

I don’t agree. I played the game on a mate PS5 and it looked and sounded wonderful , the start of the game was beautiful.

It just the game after that was so by the numbers I got really bored after just playing it for 30 mins down at my friend’s house. I know playing a game in a shop or even at a friend’s or family member’s house is not the same as home but I found the game very dull

I do think it a basic lie to blame the Series S for the non-show and that SONY has done a deal behind the scenes and as part of that deal is an NDA so the developer looks to blame the hardware it’s not appearing on.

SONY did the same to SEGA fans with Tomb Raider 2

Bummer, I want to play this on my Xbox and still holding out a bit of hope but not looking good right now, it sucks that Series S kneecaps Series X with some games Series X wouldn’t have any issues running, I don’t understand how a huge company like Microsoft didn’t think this was going to be a big issue eventually when I remember devs saying it would be before the Series consoles even launched, they cheaped out on memory and this is the result, Xbox users don’t get massive hits like BG3 and now this at launch.

Totally not-concern trolls: Proceeds to ignore the swath of more technically-competent devs producing oceans of content for the Series S… “Yeah, it’s the Series S’ fault”.

This reality couldn’t get more stupidly farcical if some failed-SNL writer tried.
