Microsoft: Wukong not delayed on Xbox over platform limitations

Sounds like Microsoft are starting to take the gloves off, in order to stop all the silly season stuff where developers are blaming Xbox for the lack of a port.

Particularly if Sony really is doing some dark arts to try and impair Xbox’s reputation amongst developers and the Series S amongst gamers

So let’s assume MS is speaking the truth here, which I’m gonna believe…

I can understand the frustration of people that despite this MS keeps bringing games over to the party that plays some dirty games, keeps playing them.

I have no doubts that business it probably makes sense for them but fucking hell if it’s not frustrating as all hell.

Who the hell knows when we can even expect it. Uncertainty, dontcha love it?

Can’t wait to see next week’s twist. lol

I just don’t get it though.

Why didn’t Sony scream it off the rooftops? Why no PS5 copies sent to media at all? Usually they are super proud of these deals.

Usually we at least know when that timed exclusivity might end too, ffs.

Game Science basically lied when they said they are optimising Xbox versions?

It increases FUD around Xbox for one thing, and given this is the biggest Chinese game in years and China is a massive growth potential market, simply stopping an Xbox version ensures people don’t buy the Series S for example to play it but have to stump up for a PS5 if they want to play it on console.

Also it might be more about prioritising the PS5 version than specifically to block Xbox, but I imagine the FUD particularly given their fanboys hatred of the S is a sweet bonus to Sony as it’ll get amplified out of proportion

Regardless of what’s true or not, I decided not to wait and see if/when Black Myth Wukong releases on Xbox Series X/S so I bought it last week for PlayStation 5 and will play it later this month after Astro Bot.

Based on those playing the game, it’s said to be really good, I know the intro looks awesome as I watched it and two friends at work (one who beat the game already) said it’s great and best of all for me, it’s NOT a souls game where when you die, you lose what you gained and have to reclaim it so thankfully, that aspect doesn’t exist in Wukong which led to me pulling the trigger and buying the game as opposed to waiting.

Like all my games for the rest of 2024 that’s on my list, im looking forward to playing Wukong. :joy:

I hate it and I don’t even know what to believe anymore. Officially Game Science never confirmed or denied the memory leak rumors, did they? So basically all we got from them is the text on their site about optimising for Xbox.

Assuming it’s still coming and that the text won’t be removed one of these days with a lame ass excuse.

Still think it could be the console versions weren’t going to make the release date and Sony paid to make sure theres got out on time. If Game Science has 200 people, 100 on PC, 50 on PS5, and 50 on Xbox and Sony comes in and says ‘I’ll give you money to make sure ours comes out alongside PC’ so they accept it, take the 50 from Xbox and put them on PS5 and now all of a sudden you have a psuedo-timed exclusive. PS5 version successfully makes release date, Xbox doesn’t, and Xbox thinks a shady deal was made but exclusivity was never paid for directly.

Something like this basically aligns with what we’re seeing and the differences in what we’re hearing IMO.

Hmmm, yeah. Could be!

And in that case they probably are working on optimising it for Xbox, but it wouldn’t surprise me if that’s just a smaller part of the team while the rest prioritises fixing stuff for PC and PS5. Hopefully that’s it, because then a release relatively “soon” is not out of the question.

If the rumor about the memory leak is true, then the Xbox version is close to being done. That’s what it said too. But maybe that was nonsense.
