Literally all this was caused by things in development for years before they were acquired.

I feel betrayed in a way. They were supposed to nurtured and grow these studios…

Ninja theory up next. Hellblade 2 isnt going to sell. How many years they worked on the game 6???

Give it a year and Ninja Theory, Double Fine and Compulsion Games are going to be next.

Now that they have CoD and King, nothing else is going to matter.

I know why I didn’t want the Activision deal to go through and I’m never going to get tired repeating that I don’t want Microsoft to get their hands on more studios.

Hifi was extremely reviewed… to why it didnt meet expectations is entirety on Xbox marketing.

I’m sure this is the kind of business environment where good games are going to get made. I fucking hate these suits man!

Did you play it? Not very many people really did. Nobody did on PS even with the move there: nobody played Tokyo, evil within 2 was a flop. The first evil within was their last success.

Employees are expensive and MS wants to “shed some weight” to be more profitable as they focus on titles that will be more successful/profitable. It sucks that this is where we are. As someone earlier stated, this is no longer Xbox but Microsoft Gaming. Also, this won’t be the last time this happens.

Same here man, I just can’t understand any of this. Hopefully we won’t see a defense force about this too…shameful decisions from Xbox. I still can’t believe this is happening.

Well, Game Pass was the place where developers could make any games they want without the incentive to release the next money maker.

By the looks of it it’s not the case.

Look at movie industry. A critical acclaimed movie will be highly regarded but won’t receive a sequel or simply be a box office. Review won’t save you completely.

Well reviewed games bomb all the time. Plus that was a side project. Tokyo bombed, Evil within 2 bombed. The studio hasn’t had a success since evil within 1

What timing, really going to get the good vibes going ahead of the June showcase isn’t it?

I kinda hope the developers who’ve been let go demonstrate outside - this is really shitty timing, I was looking forward to the showcase but now half of me is going to be thinking about which studios aren’t there and hoping the devs have found other work

Exactly this, shadow dropping a game with no marketing just doesn’t cut it. THey needed to build hype and they did Tango a disservice. Shadow drops only works for F2P GaaS games

Dropping it as a shadow drop with any no degree of prior marketing… and you expect it to stand on its own ?

Its just complete naivety.

The game was at 2M players over a year ago so yeah a lot of people played the game.

I see some people blaming it on ABK, and if that were to turn out to be true, then I wish ABK had never happened. Never been super big on this deal anyway, as a gamer I care extremely little for CoD. What a goddamned shame, this news.

Yeah this is it for me for the time being. They really are speedrunning things to the ground.

At least I can still emulate old games with Xbox. For now.
