I know it’s probably more the state of the industry, but it does feel like ABK was a poison pill recently - it’s huge, it costs loads to run and in a downturn because CoD still generates massive cash they’ll cut the rest of Xbox to keep ABK running.
If the next CoD flops, are they going to kill more Xbox studios to keep ABK running?
HiFi Rush was my favourite first-party game of the last few years, so I’m pretty pissed - I’ve been accepting of the direction of travel thinking that multi-platform helps keep the lights on, and trying something new next generation would help too - I’ll still be here but right now I’m not a happy customer and I’m really upset for the development teams affected, as there are a lot of developers out of work at the moment with more going every day so it’s going to be a lot of stress for them finding new jobs

seriously wtf, this is tough to read because seeing how passitionate John Johanas was about Hifi Rush and finally getting the chance to make his dream game. Then all of it is now gone due to not meeting sales projection. It’s clear gamepass gamble didn’t work out because the subscribers stagnated and the lack of growth results in them making cuts like this

Hifi bombed hard on ps5. All that damage to the brand and the only one that more or less sells is sot. With everyone abandoning xbox the multiplat decision has been disastrous. The real damage will become clear when they release their nexr gen console. Xbox leadersgmhip needs to go they fuck over their stidios and their customers like its nothing.

To be fair, I highly doubt that the purchase of Zenimax was to acquire Arkane Austin and Tango Gameworks. If they shutter Ninja Theory, Double Fine, inXile, etc. then I agree with you.

I thought that when MS bought Bethesda Tango and Arkane Austin were saved…I don’t know what to say anymore but there’s definitely something not right with Xbox at the moment.
And some of us wanted to see TEW3 and Prey 2 huh? I am so fuckin’ disappointed at Xbox right now…like WTF is going on?

I could be completely out to lunch, but I’ve felt that Phil hasn’t been in the driver’s seat for some time now. It seems like since Brad Smith stepped in during the acquisition there was a shift.
Honestly they should just announce Tim Stuart as the new CEO of Microsoft Gaming and stop pretending otherwise.

If Tango released a hit like Hi-fi Rush last year and still got shutdown, no studio is safe. I imagine that every smaller studio on Microsoft Gaming should start to worry about their future.
