Microsoft-Activision-Blizzard Discussion Thread (Part 1)

It’s a good thing Activision not only owns great childhood and modern games but is a huge money making company. The latter is enough to persuade Satya to buy them while Phil can enjoy the former. It’s a match made in gaming heaven.

The man is a true gamer. He’s basically Elon Musk: a nerd that happened to be in a rich business.

Which quote? :eyes:

Phil

Unless you are single minded about what this deal does to one company, I cannot see much argument that Acti-Blizzard being under MS is a bad thing.

Facts.

It’s wishful thinking…

But man do I hope that Toys for Bob would love to try their hand at Banjo. Please don’t let the bear stay dormant. Crash, Spyro are all cool but I badly want the bear to return. They have the perfect studio for it.

These people are still blinded by their wrong perception of the industry. They will understand with time.

Lol at some of the extremely rancorous reactions I’m seeing to this interview. Like people were pretending to be “above the console wars” for a couple days, but now the true feelings are coming out.

Microsoft has shown time and time and time again that they are interested in being creator lead and not forcing anyone to work on something they’re not interested in. Yes, I know, they’re a big scary tech company. But nothing in Xbox’s recent history suggests that this deal does anything but give these devs the freedom and security to make what they want to make.

I love that Phil is already openly talking about unwinding the hyper focus from CoD / working on other IP.

Future is bright.

Phil really is The Wolf though.

From Don Mattrick to Bobby Kotick. When your gaming company is on the verge of collapse due to a massive fuck up. Call Phil “The Wolf” Spencer.

Same old song and dance… Exclusives are destroying our industry! Except, you know, Sony and Nintendo exclusives. Those are okay. Just not any others.

Phil managed to combine the might of MS resources, talented devs and teams, variety of genres and IP, provide value and easy entry to gaming, “save” two publishers and their developers from their own management and the threat of other teach giants buying them up and damaging them, like I don’t know why you’d still question him. If MS don’t get Bethesda and ActiBlizz, tech giants who don’t understand gaming will, and they would have been worse off like that, with evidence.

I don’t know why so many Playstation fans are upset. I mean, weren’t they always saying they would “just play Xbox exclusives on PC”?
