It’s actually kinda scary how much power the Sony/Playstation brand seems to have, Microsoft really needs to knock them off their perch.
And that’s why I always argue that Microsoft cannot afford being magnanimous towards Sony and should do whatever it takes to destroy it. There will be generations of politicians that played nothing but Playstation in the past.

Oh this person definitely stated that Sony/MS had a contract for Minecraft which had a rolling 3 year agreement to keep Minecraft on Playstation and the Call of Duty contract was the same. Good to know that Person was full of shit!

I believe CoD will be the same. I think thats what scares Sony the most. Gamepass subsuming the CoD userbase and making the boxed sales far less relevant…and if you’re not relevant, eventually you can be managed out of the equation.
Yeah this is sorta a big wake up call for them, playing nice isn’t going to really get them anywhere in terms of trying to catch up. It’s getting more and more clear that trying to not step on anyones toes isn’t going to work. I was ok with the “good guy” Microsoft for a while but after all this BS I am not sure it’s the right move.
They need to start doing some crazy stuff again, like next gen, launch a year before Sony, money hat some huge exclusives, when the next Playstation comes out a year late, drop the price of the Xbox so it’s $100 cheaper.
Stuff like that they should do, because putting your games on their system and not buying timed exclusives and all the things they’re doing now are moving the needle way too slowly. With that said though these new studios they own could help but they need to fix their situation like 7 years ago and waiting for all these games to come out and doing nothing else in between probably isn’t good enough.
Tom Warren only said that there wasn’t a contract that guarantees Minecraft forever, and that’s pretty much a given. No one has such a contract for any game. That still leaves plenty of room for contracts for less time than forever though, I mean I doubt that anything releases on Playstation without some kind of contract in place or something in writing between Sony and the developer, so I would expect there is some contracts between Microsoft and Sony for Minecraft - but whether or not it’s a 3 year rolling contract is something none of us know.
COD in GP D1 will have the efffect of time exclusivity basically. Which can be huge.
It basically turns the business into a political circus. Something that FTC is also trying to do with all their lawsuits. Granted we still have decent laws in place.

Microsoft announced back in June that they were going to update xcloud so that you can play some games you own and not just games that are on game pass. Has there been any chatter on when that’ll actually drop?
The consequences of the Xbox brand basically revolving around the US market only. Now you have people in actual important positions who only ever grew up with Playstation because Xbox never bothered in their region maybe outside of aggressive 360 years, so Xbox is just some weird nuisance or even threat to gaming to them.
True. Remember when there was an interview with Phil Spencer for some TV channel or something and the interviewer said he is a Game Pass subscriber himself. It’s the same in Europe but with Playstation.
