Microsoft-Activision-Blizzard Discussion Thread (Part 1)

The subscription service thing is so easy to destroy in court, so hopefully CMA are not recklessly stupid in Phase 2. Sony could immediately offer their extensive “award winning” games day and date on a streaming service, but they are choosing not to. Nintendo could also do the same or partner with someone to do the same. Tencent is the largest by revenue and could absolutely put a credible product out there. And guess what Sony putting games in a subscription service on release would be consumer friendly, something the CMA is supposed to care about. Just unreal.

As I’ve stated it’s grandstanding nothing more

I’m getting really tired of all this but at the same time can’t turn away. Hopefully by the end of November things will be more clear.

I wonder how many people got some white hairs due to that deal :joy: It is like Twitter basically - not everybody will survive living there

I mean, if anybody I think it’s you dude lol. No cap

I am doing just fine. I find it highly entertaining. But probably won’t be able to reach 10k messages by the end of the year. Only at 8.4k right now.

On Twitter as soon as you learn that it does not matter what you have written 1 or 2 messages before, it becomes easy.

if the cma shuts it down cant microsoft still close on it and just have to pay a fine? I read that somewhere but i am really not sure. I wonder what does happen if it goes south

This section. CMA at least acknowledges it as unconventional (very kind way of saying this ain’t it) lol

…You realize the Parties refers to MS/ABK and not Sony, yes? I don’t see anywhere in those pages that suggests CMA took any issue with Sony’s analysis. They do say they don’t want to give it too much weight, for obvious reasons that have nothing to do with the analysis being substandard.

Let the regulators and Microsoft do their job, it’s good that government institutions at least appear to do their job haha.

In a few months we will be talking about why the new Crash game did not reach the Gamepass from day 1 while Diablo IV did

According to Riskit4theBiskit Video there not much Microsoft can do if CMA blocks the deal.

(19) What happens if the CMA blocks the Activision Blizzard & Microsoft Deal? - YouTube

and if this gets blocked and cma’s pretty positive sony stance whats to say anyone else microsoft tries to buy gets blocked

This is exactly why Microsoft will not stand to get it blocked and will either take concessions, rip them apart in court to the point it financially cripples the CMAs ability to fight them, or theyll simply say fine CMA, theyll just pay continuous fines for doing it anyways and continuing busineas and laugh (that wpuld be hugely embarassing for the UK), or the UK consumers no longer get Microsoft products (also hugely embarassing for the UK).

I would hope its apparent to the CMA that they cant overplay their hand if everyone else goes along and they just go for aome concessions.

This, this is why if it gets blocked, you’d have to think in the short term, it might be better to exit the gaming market in the UK. If Microsoft isn’t allowed to compete on equal ground, it might be in Microsoft’s best interest to wait for a smarter time to reengage with the market. If your long term plans can’t be executed because of a renegade regulatory body, best not engage with said country until impartiality returns.

They can simply ignore the ruling and do business anyways and pay fines or they could choose to pull out of the UK. Financially, it would take 5 years of Microsofts income from the UK just to pay the fee to Activision for the deal falling through. That doesnt even account for lost income that Microsoft would have if Activision was under them. They wont let the little UK stop them.

Why are the CMA so deep inside Sony’s…you know what?

What they said about Bethesda games, how on earth can someone be that clueless? Several Bethesda titles are on all the consoles, wtf are they talking about? There should be someone above the CMA that looks at it in a more neutral way, wtf man.

Of all the companies MS is the most consumer friendly, with all these many options for people to play if they don’t want to spend money on a console, the fact that they keep CoD on PS too. And it’s still not enough? Sigh.

Also, just in

He doesnt know anything
