sorry.
If Microsoft would have just acquired WB with all of DC, they wouldnât be having any of these issues since the cost would be nowhere near $70B. lmao.
Chances of WoW subscription included in GamePass if this deal goes through ?
ESO is not included, so if that is any indicationâŚ
ESO is not a requirement to play online, it just gives some small quality of life benefits like infinite crafting bag space
We literally in a situation where due to the moneyhats (and marketing) Xbox and Playstation versions cost the same while having the less features on Xbox. They can also argue that being their first party input they donât need 30% cut for their games and so on - after all nobody asked Sony to increase the prices on their own games in the first place (it is a whole vector of attack that Sony being a market leader increased the console and game prices).
There are many options to work out and this whole circus is because Microsoft want to wrap the deal quickly and are willing to lose the face by offering some COD concessions (but of course to a certain point). If they wanted to go nuclear, Sony would end up without any COD games, because there is no argument they can lean on.
With recent statement of Phil Spencer, I had a idea of what could be long term Plan for COD
The COD on playstation statement, longer than the current deal, make me think that, Microsoft would probably go with COD on playstation all the ps5/Series generation. Because, the COD motor is already prepared for the PS5, there are a lot of players that already own a PS5 and Microsoft will need some time to reorganise both Microsoft Games Studio and Acti/Bli/King (I guess some common service will probably merge, structure/doc/procedure could be upgraded and so and so)
So What If, COD become a exclusive title for the next gen? If they annonce it soon enough, people canât argue that Microsoft take off something from a plateforme they doesnât own at the time (Playstation 6). This would make the a hudge force for a console launch (of course, it will be on Pc / XCloud too, but lot of people will still be console player)
Just want to point out itâs been almost 4 months since we had the âprogressing quicklyâ & âstart of the middleâ comments.
Also does any have a link to that page where is stated when we expect to hear from each country ? Canât seem to find it in this thread. Thank you in advance.
It is 70b deal. Progressing quickly does not mean 6 months is enough. Deals of similar size go for more than 1 year or 2 years.
I think peopleâs perception has been skewed by the quick turnarounds on purchases of private companies. Bethesda was about as big as a private company purchase gets and that was six months.
Actiblizz is a absolutely gargantuan worldwide entity. The scale of the deal is uncharted territory in the gaming business and they (MS) told you exactly how long they think it could take.
âProgressing quicklyâ in this context is in relation to the projected finish line of âby June 2023â. Not âthis is almost finishedâ.
I may have phrased my comments poorly. I donât want to start getting people excited for a quick finish. My guess is this will be a 14 month process as Iâm in the March/April camp for this finishing.
Part of me think some regulators are in uncharted waters an plan on mimicking what the FTC does, with some of their own thoughts added in.
I stick to my original prediction with autumn but if it goes to phase 2 in UK, then it certainly wonât be able to be finished at that time. If it goes to phase 2 I think Microsoft should drop any agreements with Sony as they wonât matter anymore.
Ironically the faster the deal closes, the better it is for consumers. Even in that regard Sony is detrimental to gaming and consumers
I think a Q1 2023 is more likely. If the CMA is pushing for a Phase 2, I would imagine the EU would be harder. The EU investigation would be on part with the FTC and the FTC has been taking their sweet time in this.
It sounds like Phase 2 should have been the expectation for any deal this size.
Hoeg also made a good point about this, typically the less we hear is better, its when things get noisy stuff may be going sideways.
Even better is that CMA took Sonyâs comment as factual
It would be great if we get to see MS response to the CMA/Sony comments.
Would be interesting to see if the CMA reverts their oddly worded stance or goes all in on it.
Microsoft has promised to keep Call of Duty on PlayStation for three years beyond the current agreement between Activision and Sony, says PlayStation CEO Jim Ryan.
In a statement provided to GamesIndustry.biz , Ryan says the offer was âinadequate on many levelsâ.
The current deal between Sony and Activision Blizzard around Call of Duty is believed to cover the next three releases, including this yearâs Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.
However, Sony says the offer fails to consider the impact on PlayStation gamers.
âI hadnât intended to comment on what I understood to be a private business discussion, but I feel the need to set the record straight because Phil Spencer brought this into the public forum,â Ryan stated.
âMicrosoft has only offered for Call of Duty to remain on PlayStation for three years after the current agreement between Activision and Sony ends. After almost 20 years of Call of Duty on PlayStation, their proposal was inadequate on many levels and failed to take account of the impact on our gamers. We want to guarantee PlayStation gamers continue to have the highest quality Call of Duty experience, and Microsoftâs proposal undermines this principle.â
Omg I love this . This is the good shit . Hot and Spicy drama .
