CoD is leverage in the long term. They can make it [mainline releases] exclusive if they feel the need perhaps if marketing/game pass/bundles etc doesn’t do enough for them. For immediate future, they’ll take in all the possible money it makes being everywhere.
Are people really that deluded? Or are they just that committed to Sony? Because I’m getting really annoyed with the port begging.
I can apply this argument to any former multiplatform game.
I am pretty sure that Microsoft is much less concerned about COD money from retail, rather than money from people who would come to Game Pass due to COD being there. I mean, seriously, they spend 70b on ABK and certainly don’t expect to get that money from Playstation.
Never underestimate the power of the default.
I’m not so sure, cod has been going for such a long time and has declined somewhat and not being on someone’s favourite platform could be the final nail, we just don’t know. I’m not saying it’s a definite because I could be wrong and everyone just flocks to Xbox.
This sort of messing around with what the status quo as in making it exclusive suddenly could have massive impact either way that could be good or bad and cost billions.
Imagine for a moment they did make it exclusive and they only get some of the people to move over and the rest stop playing the game that would be a huge hit money wise and player count wise.
What I will say is maybe they do some testing and see people move over and buy a Series S and game pass to save money on cod and if enough do it maybe they will make it exclusive.
I don’t really care what happens I’m just giddy over never having to buy cod again hehe.
Yeah just never know, I’m not really sure what would happen at the end of the day.
I am pretty sure that MW2 will do crazy numbers. Only old settings are kinda declined but everything else (including MTX) grows like crazy.
Warzone will not go anywhere.
Yeah this is why I am just not sure what is really best, I don’t think it’s as clear cut as some think. I can see them having the 6v6 being exclusive with SP and Warzone being on all platforms like you and many suggest but then I can see them just leaving it as is. I don’t think anything is really 100% but I do think it’s probably 60% it stays as is and 40% they go exclusive SP 6v6.
I like Hoeg, but that is too perfect of a click bait title for me to put much stock into the sentiment
I just put my self in his spot. How do I make Xbox fans worry and PS fans who hate Xbox get hopeful? And…boom
No reason to think he’s wrong. MS gave a timeframe of 1st July 2022 to 30th June 2023 when first announced, expecting it within the first couple of months of that timeframe is very optimistic. I’m expecting this to be 2023, and hoping to be pleasantly surprised.
It doesn’t help that he has a less than savory opinion on MS/Xbox. He’s a PS fan essentially.
That part I don’t believe
Sorry didn’t mean it like that. But he does have a preference imo.
And I should have said, I’m okay with liking one over the other, but even if he does, I don’t buy it being a factor. To me it’s clicks that are the driving force behind a title like that
He is giving his opinion as an expert in the field. His opinion has weight based entirely on that fact. Dismissing it because of the YouTube title is comical.
He is saying that you don’t have enough information to make any judgements as to where it currently stands. Everything he says within the actual content of the video is based on an actual understanding of the process.
It’s a process with zero precedent
15 minutes in and he’s just explaining reg review processes. As others has said, he’s not wrong, there’s just no real insight.
what do you mean? He has said he thinks this deal will close successfully since day one. He is literally a mergers and acquisitions lawyer. Regardless of what gaming preferences he has. You are talking about a man’s professional career and, I highly doubt he would risk it by showing bias to perpetuate the Twitter console wars.
Everything he says in the video is pretty much on point. expect the deal to close early next year or late this year. Then he breaks down the entire legal process that is left.
He’s not wrong though. The amount of websites out there misinforming people about MS closing the ABK acquisition this August is absurd!
Hes mostly talking about how wrong is to think that, even if the FTC were to give the deal , theres still more regulators yet to give their ansewers in september. Heck, we dont even know when China and EU will start doing ther reviews!
What caught my attentiton is his comparison with the amazon/MGM acquisition…though we wont know if MS is “pressuring” the FTC or if its true that its moving fast. What we DO know is that ABK’s acquisition is near an important milestone in the US.
Also, he believes the deal has high chances to go through now that MS got an important ally with the unions (see his video of MS and CWA) and even thinks there could be a possibility of it finishing this year but its most likely Q1 2023…which is something I’m also expecting.
