“You’re making Call of Duty and you’re making Call of Duty, everyone’s making Call of Duty!” :skull::skull::skull:

It’s so silly how the big narrative out of this is how this effects SONY!!! Like the ENTIRE gaming world only involved Sony.

I was gaming decades before Sony got in the business and I’ll be gaming decades after they leave. I hope this move negates the idea that Sony = Gaming as a whole. It’s BS and their are so much good gaming outside of Sony consoles

The quicker the gaming world stops treating Sony like royalty the better we will all be.

Yep glad he made such a direct video about the stupid bias we all have been seeing for years.

I remember Playstaion fans complaining that MS was this big company trying to muscle/buy their way into gaming. I had to gently remind them that Sony did the exact same thing.

So am I just out of the loop or something. What’s OtherEra?

LOL it would be worth posting Sonys former head wanted to make fewer games because of how unsustainable and high budget it all is.

Yes, you read right. Fewer games. Remember when they didn’t announce any new games for 3 years? And skipped E3? That was too many for Shawn Layden.

So the thought of Sony adding 10-12 AAA studios with a publisher is counter to that.

Sony is working within their budget

  • The same companies they’ve always worked with…adding nothing.

  • New startups you’ve never heard of with razor thin budgets.

  • Support studios to help their existing ones from taking 7-8 years to put out a game.

  • Timed exclusives, which are drying up.

  • VR games.

ResetEra where a large chunk of people came from to form this forum because how toxic it became to be a Xbox fan on there.

For me it’s the whole, yes im gonna use it :joy:

Keep That Same Energy

You can’t moan Xbox is a monopoly or it’s unfair then go on and say Sony should respond by buying 10 studios, that shit pisses me off and honestly screams of sadness and desperation that they know Sony don’t play on the same field money wise to Xbox.

My favorite post there is about a guy trying to compare the scale of Sony acquisitions last year to the Bethesda/Activision/Blizzard acquisitions. Absolutely hilarious.

Look I don’t like making fun of them but they really did this to themselves after the last 10 years of BS, it’s like a kid being bullied for so long then went to the gym got strong then bash the shit out of the bully. They don’t like their own medicine and it’s just so easy to make fun of.

I know that’s not the point, but I’m looking forward to seeing these Multiplayers/Gaas games. And how Sony and these developers have taken care of post-launch support in case these games don’t live up to your expectations. It didn’t start very well with “Destruction All-Star”.

Sony tends to dump them quickly after “flop,” especially if they follow Metacritic like hard. Put it this way, Sea of Thieves would have been left in the dust a long time ago.

It happened a long time ago to be fair, so some might not know lol.

I just find it funny that I am supposed to feel sorry for poor little Sony, as if they are not a giant conglomerate as well.

They discuss a few topics.

One part was interesting about how AB first went to Facebook, they said no, then another tech company and then MS.

  • Is Sony in trouble?

Destin: No.

Paul:

in the immediate future: For this entire console generation Sony has nothing to worry about. Yearly basis we get quality exclusives, GOTY contenders etc.

Longer term future: He does have soms concerns about those. They can’t physically match wat MS is doing. There is no answer for this like Sony should buy EA. To the response on Twitter that Sony could do this he says Sony is 7 % of the size of MS, they have a 150 billion market cap, MS has a 2.2 trillion market cap. AB is their largest acquisition ever, so clearly they are giving blank checks to their gaming division in a way that…Sony and Nintendo can’t make these moves.

He’s heard that ActiBlizz wanted to sell itself to Facebook at one point, before they went to MS but FB didn’t wanna do it, they are still obsessed with VR and metaverse.

They talk Spartacus and long story short, Paul doesn’t think exclusives will be there day one, but if that’s the case it’s just not a Game Pass competitor.

  • Sony’s answer

Now with the PS5 shortage, and them making PS4s again for this year , maybe they’ll start to rethink about launching exclusives faster on PC. They got studios now solely for PC porting. This all makes Xbox and Sony dead even. Sony will continue to make great games, Xbox now has a killer service that is undeniably the best value in gaming.

  • Exclusives

Destin to Paul: CoD, Diablo, Overwatch, WoW, Starcraft, smaller titles like Crash, Spyro…how do you think they’ll play the exclusivity window going forward after having made statements “we plan to continue to support these communities moving forward” and “intent and desire”.?

Paul: That statement essentially means nothing. It can mean whatever you want it to mean. They are not gonna disband active communities like shut off PlayStation Overwatch servers etc.

I am am Phil Spencer this is my plan: All future Blizzard IPs are gonna be Xbox exclusive. Overwatch could stay on all platforms, since Overwatch 2 just seems like base upgrades over the first one. The statement kinda indicates this too.

A console version of Diablo 4 will be console exclusive. Something like a possible Starcraft FPS would be console exclusive. Warzone stays everywhere. A big shake up for CoD. Could be a game that comes out every other year. These other studios could work on Spyro, Crash. Mainline games will be exclusive.

Destin agrees.

  • good for the industry?

Destin says he believes MS will definitely clean house. He recently did an article on games costing 70 dollars and why he thinks that shouldn’t be a thing. Xbox charges 60 dollars for their exclusives and looking on Glass Door the salaries they pay their QA, their game designers, sort of an entry-level role it’s markedly better than anybody else in the industry. Combined with the positivity from AB employees about the acquisition he’s hopeful about how everything will be addressed.

Tassi says it’s exciting but mostly especially scary, thinks the mega companies are getting too powerful, more powerful than the government. Isn’t looking forward to more of this.

Microsoft buying companies to compete better and becoming third :3rd_place_medal: = bad

Sony the dominating console manufacturer buying SE, Capcom and more = smart.

Can’t see this happening, even if Sony did attempt it MS would no doubt put an offer in as well. Besides would Sony really want to go all in with DC licenses? Marvel might not been too keen on that.
