I actually thought the streaming rights were for post acquisition ABK games but after watching the interview it seems to be most of the backlog also which is a pretty decent concession. Still Microsoft will end up paying a fraction of what any of their competitors are paying for the cloud streaming rights as ubisoft will be paying them back a portion of that to buy the rights anyway. What did interest me was the pricing model the CMA posted:

Sale of Purchaser’s Cloud Streaming Rights for Activision Games and Related DLC by Purchaser: To provide Purchaser purchasing terms based on industry standard wholesale pricing, including an option that supports pricing based on usage, to enable Purchaser to sell streaming entitlements for accessing Activision Games or related DLC solely for Cloud Streaming Gameplay. Wholesale pricing will be no higher than the Parties’ wholesale price for digital download and retail sales of PC and console versions of the same content (whichever is lower). To grant Purchaser full discretion over monetization of the Activision Games in connection with Purchaser’s Cloud Streaming Rights. Purchaser shall have freedom to determine the actual retail price and business models for its sales, licences or sublicences of the Cloud Streaming Rights. For the sake of clarity, Purchaser may, at its discretion, monetize the Cloud Streaming Rights for Activision Games by individual game titles, as part of multi-game subscriptions, or via any other business model currently existing or developed in the future (including without limitation, as part of bundles, crossovers and compilations).

Would love to know how the bolded section will work. Does that mean that for every user who plays an ABK game on the cloud on another service, Ubisoft will have to pay Microsoft the wholesale price of the game? If so that is just going to make the whole thing ridiculously expensive for other services unless they allow you to play games you already own

EviLore (Malka) even has an OP over there where he trashes Starfield. The cultivation of Sony cultists is deliberate. It’s a ‘choice’ insofar as he’s making sure he gets regular traffic after the reset exodus.

It’s why their Activision thread is a pile of seething hatred of all things MS & anyone who defends Xbox usually gets banned.

The funny part? They act like their rants actually matter (usually taking a moral stance against Gamepass in the name of a ‘greater good’, which = paying SIE 80 euros for a video game).

These self-anointed champions of the gaming industry are merely paying for Jim Ryan’s bonuses.

I really hope MS have and are preparing loads of marketing stuff for when this closes. It’s taken a long time so no excuse not to. I want them to go full on shitposting on this. Presumably they can’t have cod in gamepass or anything like that but the ads ‘cod from 2025 will be in gamepass day and date’ should be ready to roll.

I hope they start again to have a normal marketing attitude. It seems hell is frozen over Microsoft offices since the ABK announcement last year.

lol Microsoft will get to say MW3 is a 1st party title this year, I’m sure some people won’t like Xbox fans saying that and I can just see the “it doesn’t count” comments already

Still gonna be weird seeing cod things posted in the first party thread.

I think they’ve been posted already lol

Let’s not pretend the other way doesn’t happen too. Seemed like that excuse was used to explain away Redfall.

Does he not correct the question where it’s phrased that Xbox is the biggest console maker? REALLY? That was such an obvious mistake to clear up.

Wonder if Xbox can facilitate a Sekiro sequel through Activision, if not exclusive/timed, then launching on Game Pass. Should continue souls-like trend on Game Pass, in a big way.

I doubt it, FS seem to have moved on from exclusives and from their point of view, why would you go back?

Bloodborne would have been contracted shortly after Dark Souls before they exploded in popularity, they don’t need Sony or MS anymore when they can get Namco to fund whatever they want and bring it everywhere

Maybe a GP deal though

Yeah that’s why I said at least GP launch.

I swear Nick said there’s a FromSoft game with Playstation, but maybe that’s been signed well before Elden Ring.

Yeah and Neogaf is really really bad, a literal toxic wasteland, I avoid them like the plague.
