From what I understand reading the tweets from the ML reporter, the commissioner are not in charge of the decision to grant the withdrawal application but the FTC secretary. That been said, the commissioner do have the power to bring it back or overturn it. Very unlikely since the FTC hasn’t done that in 30yr but you never know what these clown would do next.
New Zealand don’t matter. Example, even if they block the deal in NZ. Deal still goes through. Only FTC, EU, CMA, China matters.
NZ does whatever CMA does so they will follow suit.
Perhaps as New Zealand is a commonwealth country similar to Australia they are waiting to see what happens in the UK.
I think they may drop it only because they’re supposedly bringing a very big case against Amazon for their online retail business practices. They may need a lot of resources to fight that case so it’s possible they drop their opposition to the acquisition. Saying all that this is the FTC so I wouldn’t bet on it with their previous actions
Extension to August 8th is interesting. What new materials will have NZ in two weeks, I wonder ?
they’ll see Playstation ads during the women’s world cup thus showing them that Xbox is in low use and thus is gonna bring competition to the good people of the country and by extension, the region.

NZ and Australia are the (only ?) countries to have signed a commercial agreement with UK after Brexit. I wonder if this has any relation.
Quite a few juicy nuggets in the less redacted version such as Jim stating the the reason they release later on PC is to force PC owners to buy a PS. We all knew this of course but the quote makes it official.
Wonder how the PC guys feel now about buying Spiderman years after release just to be milked by Sony
We all know Microsoft is just making sure all the T’s are crossed and I’s are dotted. Not trying to be a fanboy but all parties now know what they’re playing for and nobody wants to be caught in a storm later down the line on the basis of some ridiculous semantics.
#BELIEVE
So as things stand now, it likely will be late August for things to finally over done?
My hope is to finish the COD Ghosts campaign finally through GamePass and then start Starfield.
The Microsoft/ABK lawyer did say it would be about 3 days before they could submit it. So either later today or tomorrow.
Do we know if the CMA has made their submissions to the CTA yet for the adjournment?
Edit: Oh wait, I forgot about the time difference. I guess they must have because the deadline has already passed.
Gotta love Sarah Cardell just sitting there thinking she’s a boss, but in reality, she’s literally making the this deal worse UK consumers when compared to every other country in the world.
So the party holding up progress here is….Microsoft.
Get on with it.
Yeah that’s what annoys me the most out of all this. Granted yes I/we are used to being shat on by the government and tories…but how can they genuinely look with a straight face and say whatever crap they come up with in terms of cloud will benefit consumers? Right now we get Xcloud as part of Gamepass Ultimate and we can play games on gamepass via the cloud which is nice and simple. But now thanks to the CMA we’re hearing crap like Xbox having to maybe license out or spin off or maybe not include Activision games. Either way it’s looking like Xcloud is going to be modified in a way that has no benefit whatsoever to UK gamers and all because of the CMA and their attitude that they know better than everyone else and thanks to that they’re now scrambling to save face
(sorry for the rant just annoys me that there’s a good chance us UK gamers/consumers may end up having Xcloud messed up for no real reason while it remains the same everywhere else)
