Microsoft-Activision-Blizzard Discussion Thread |OT3| - Sony bends the knee!

OP did the New Zealand trick to see their approval

You guys worry too much on the CMA, they are not some untouchable entity, and are as susceptible to political pressure like other regulators. They might be independent but they still answer somewhat to the UK government(can’t enforce something without the governments help ). The way I see it is that both Microsoft and the CMA wants a clean resolution so Microsoft might extend their agreement with ABK as a show of good faith.

The CMA wouldn’t come to the table if they wanted this deal dead no matter what it takes, so something made them do that, political pressure is one, the other is that they are now alone in blocking the deal(AUS and NZ is irrelevant). The CAT is also watching if they do the delay tactics again. If the CMA does delay this and adamant with their block, then “IF” Microsoft tells them to pound sand, they will have political cover this time and frame the CMA as unreasonable(also makes the UK look bad).My two cents.

I saw a tweet that New Zealand approved and it was deleted like 30 seconds after it was posted which prompted me to look up the case on their comissions website. It says that New Zealand completed their process. However I dont see a new document but I do see the case was updated 2 minutes ago

I wonder if they got word that the CMA has approved it for tomorrow so they followed suit.

I’m heading to bed. Tomorrow is going to be a huge day. Will it be live stream by the way?

hoping to have news by lunch tomorrow!

Just as an FYI: Nintendo and MS are on good terms for the most part. Nintendo America HQ, is literally right by Microsoft HQ, they definitely have had a ton of shared employees over the years, eat lunch together, etc… any meetings can be done in person, just walk over there.

I read an article that claimed that CoD gamers are happy with this decision, citing some Reddit posts. I’d like to hear from a larger pool of CoD fans but if it’s true then that is pretty interesting.

Also this seems like a slow motion crash, still. With the CMA situation it still seems like it will be a while before we get a roundtable or see the games listed on GP.

That’s fine with me because things are trending positively, but I have a feeling that this acquisition will still be a discussion topic for weeks to come.

For people against this deal, this is just being drawn out at an agonizing pace. :grimacing:

The Nintendo article is crap, Brad Smith debunked this months ago and theres no way they’d change course in 3 months when they didnt have to as consoles were deemed a non issie and all focus has been on cloud

I can’t think of any good reason for it taking so long for the New Zealand decision other than having it as a early morning block for the UK & particularly, CAT to see.

they work for the government, not some tech startup

I mean, it’s past 5PM in NZ. It’s reasonable to expect the decision during business hours.

Do NZ have to make a decision? Can they just let time expire like Canada?

Bruh you’ve been on here all day doom posting, give it a rest already. Even if New Zealand did try to block it wouldn’t matter because they’re irrelevant.

You think CAT is going to give a shit about NZ? Apparently Microsofts lawyers are all a bunch of gullible dummies, maybe they should have hired you as their counsel instead?

Let NZ try to block, MS will steamroll them too and give them the same ass beating they gave the FTC

Oh nooooo we have our own stibbs/VinFTW :sob: :sob:

Anyways, if they didnt decide anything today…wouldnt that mean their opinion no longer matter because the failed the deadline? Just like Canada.

To be fair that VinFTW dude has been pretty tame lately, but Stibbs pops an errection anytime he hears something that can even remotely be considered bad news

Its like

MS: B r e a t h e s.

Those guys: “DID YOU SEE THAT?! MS breathed in a nervous way, that means the deal is dead and they will sell Xbox”

It got tiresome really really quickly.
