After being lambasted by the CAT for attempting to delay the hearing previously, I do not think CMA would be stupid enough to try any new tricks again.
They will declare before CAT on Monday whatever they are intending to pause for, makes no sense to pause if they havenât come up with something. I still say Microsoft closes by Monday or Tuesday. If the CMA is serious then they will show some good faith in removing that interim order if not I say close over them and litigate later.
Am I right in assuming this meeting with the CAT is just a formality of the process and any major updates are going to be independent of that? That was the vibe I got anyway.
Interesting. Then a reveal canât be too far away then. Iirc all previous ones by now had been revealed? Itâs a bit late this time around.
Maybe but doesnât courtesy expect that stockholders or investors be alerted of an extension. Also, what is the point of pausing if the appeal period would have been done within the same period. I would expect some good faith evidence from the CMA on Monday if they were serious either by accepting the new remedy or removing the interim order.
I completely agree. I understand those who want to own/collect games but im long past that point in my gaming life. The only games I buy digitally are those that will have expansions/post launch content because itâs just easier and more convenient. I do buy games physically but these are the games that I trade in once completed (ala FF XVI, lol).
Iâm not someone whoâll stay subscribed to Game Pass due to the fact that I only use it when thereâs a day one game that I want to play but knowing the option for all of Microsoftâs first party games is available this way is great for gamers and consumers in general.
Just like in the games themselves, the more options the better it is for everyone.
I canât play every game day one. lol
The first six months of 2023, I had 11 games. I have played and completed 8 of them thus far and once I wrap up FF XVI tomorrow, it will be 9 out of 11. The two games I have left are Diablo IV which I will continue to wait on and Like a Dragon Ishin which I just bought a few days ago and received yesterday from GameStop. I donât know when I will play it though as after FF XVI, next week is Remnant 2 which IS day one!!! Hell, I have four days off from work just so I can play it early since im buying the digital ultimate edition. Loved the first Remnant and the sequel looks like massive improvements everywhere.
I try to go game by game based on release date but doesnât always work as too many games get released in the same month (October for example) or I look back like I did with Ishin and figure, let me give it a shot at some point.
My next two guaranteed day one playthroughs are Remnant 2 and Atlas Fallen.
Hopefully itâs broadcast like the rest.
Personally, if I was Bobby Kottick, there isnt anything short of additional financial gain that could convince me to extend the deal past July 18th. With 400 million personally on the line, I am not extending while there is complete certainty in closing now. Microsoft would need to double that money coming to me to get me to even extend a few weeks.
Phil Re: PS5 activision games
And who is to say they are not aware of a possible extension already? Letâs wait till Monday to find out.
Is 400 million what he personally stands to gain here? I think the problem there is that that kind of money only represents a couple years of wages for him, heâll make his mountain of gold regardless. As much as Activision probably still wants to sell since itâs share price is being propped up by this acquisition, the changes in the economy could see them demand a sizable bump in the sale price.
That said - would an extension count as a full renegotiation of the deal? If weâre only talking the 6 weeks estimated by the CMA (which it sounds like they cannot extend further) then presumably it would work under different terms.
Stockholders have not been alerted of an extension.
I meant that the talks of a possible extension may have taken place internally already. Letâs wait till Monday to find out.
Why would stockholders be alerted of an extension before there is an extension?
Ah because maybe they have to be pre-alerted to any alerting of a theoretical extension, prior to the actual alert should there be an extension.
I am sure Microsoft and ABK have discussed extensions internally, but donât see why anyone outside of that needs to know until they formally try and extend the deal.
Theyâll find out when they have to vote on it
Oh I was kidding anyway, plus I heard elsewhere they wouldnât necessarily need an additional vote for extension? Itâs a bit unclear though.
Monday/Tuesday is the new DAY.
Still confident the deal with close Monday/Tuesday.
I donât trust the CMA BUT I know MS can close/have some plan in place if they believe they are up to delaying shenanigans.
Phil in an internal meeting after the closure of ABK acquisition: âCOD 2024 is now an Xbox exclusive as well as every subsequent COD gameâ.
