This is such a non-issue. Even if Microsoft did divest their UK cloud gaming element…they would just sub-contract it out from the same entity as a 3rd party. I still doubt this will happen, nor be a long term issue, but if that was the lynchpin …the CMA clearly wants to save face.
how would MS give up cloud? sell the xbox server stacks to someone? or just give them the cloud service contracts like they did with other cloud providers?
because this makes no sense and no way in hell after all the Invesment

If only I could have foreseen this…
Sell the building to Amazon. Rent Xcloud space from Amazon.
Thats it!
The last hope is if the FTC can show Corley fk’d up and warranting emergency relief, given how she just denied them she’s confident in her decision
I have an idea on what to post after tomorrow. I’ll likely get in trouble but I have been saving it for a year. Anyway, tomorrow…
Judgment Day!!!
No Mami though…
Does this really screw over UK consumers? Microsoft would have the same opportunity as anyone to license the ABK cloud-based market rights. The only way this hurts consumers is if this stops MS from allowing Game Pass subscribers from accessing ABK titles via the cloud.
not to sound stupid but as a non-American, what on earth is the 9th circuit and how different is it from the preceding 8?
My source for Microsoft’s UK revenue was this The Register article citing £4.86bn for MS’s fiscal year ending 2021. Activision’s revenue that year was $8.35bn according to their annual report. I know those quarters don’t line up exactly but it does show Activision’s global revenue exceeds that of Microsoft’s UK revenues.
Regarding giving up the cloud market rights, I’m not entirely sure what that means but giving up xCloud and/or streaming rights to Activision games in the UK is definitely worth having more content elsewhere.
It’s just where it is.
They are just broken up geographically. The 9th circuit covers California and much of the western part of the country. There are 13 in total
I suppose this would constitute a small divestiture that has minimal impact to the deal. Looking at it at face value it does seem like it should satisfy a lot of the CMA concerns as essentially Microsoft would have to make a deal just like everyone else.
Cheers lads. Arigato.
where the jurisdiction is for each court
Edit: one appeal down, one to go.
so it hurts consumers lmao.
Don’t we have to wait from the 9th Circuit first?
