Maybe more quality mobile games. smartphones these days run at 120hz, and Call of Duty Warzone is coming to mobile.
I’d imagine things will mostly stay the same and Cloud will mostly be in the same spot its currently in.

Basically this, so long as it is a megafranchise that brings in dumptrucks of money - I’d expect it to be multiplatform. Does that mean it will always be multiplatform or always launch on playstation? No, the market could change in a lot of ways.
Can definitely see some higher quality mobile games being made, the amount of money in that market is just insane and bigger projects like CoD, PUBG and Genshin Impact show it can be done
As for Cloud, I can see it getting a bit bigger over the next decade but traditional gaming will still be the wide spread way of playing
Indeed.
I think it is important to focus on how the dynamic changes for Activision as it will no longer be publicly traded/beholden to shareholders and operating under a larger umbrella. (Microsoft Gaming still needs to be successful, but the pressure is less direct)
COD was/is making the most money (in the console/PC space, King is its own beast) so they focus on COD because you have to deliver shareholder value. Games that don’t make that much money, even when they are successful and high quality (Tony Hawk 1+2 is a perfect example) aren’t seen as a win, they are seen as a detriment to what makes more money.
Those constraints are no longer important under Microsoft Gaming. That isn’t to say that they can just make bad games, they will still need to shoot for quality. But as a pillar of an entire ecosystem variety and different sized games are just as important as the big hitters.
It will take time, but I think you will see some meaningful changes to the way ABK produces content. COD will be COD until it dies, but with Game Pass more Crash, Spyro, Tony Hawk, or new franchises are equally important and valuable.
Maybe that’s true but he hates Playstation more.
Lina getting questioned…
Kevin Kiley is on fyre
He is just a PC guy who has no enthusiasm for console games. They trotted him out to play Returnal and Horizon Forbidden West and he did his job but you can tell he just doesn’t personally care about those kinds of games and would rather be talking about PC stuff.
Something at the start had me pause - is Lina Kahn operating without a license from her Bar Association?
Apparently Jimbo turned down extending the marketing agreement on CoD as a way of accepting the deal with MS
He just wanted to block instead, man really is a walking L
He fully expected the FTC to act as boosters and protectors for Sony. Which they basically did… just not competently.
You’re completely right, and this is why I don’t think this argument of “Microsoft is pretty hands off” holds any weight. The current management ISN’T hands off, they’re actively pushing profit driven decisions at the expense of the quality of their output. We had the same thing with Bethesda - Redfall was the product of a studio being pushed to make a more profitable game that did not fit their expertise. So even if Microsoft were hands off and just left studios to make the games they wanted to make - that is still a huge improvement over what Activision has now.

Getting a stay itself in the appeal is a high hurdle that requires that the FTC to show immediate harm that can’t be reversed before the appellate court goes over the appeal, amongst other hurdles.

And you thought Gollem needs a redo.
Don’t think this should affect her ability to perform her job as commissioner?
Can’t believe Khan said they only cases when they feel the law is on their side. Either she’s saying the entire agency is completely incompetent given the record lately, or she’s just bold faced lying to the US gov.
I’m sure she’ll be fine.
I really feel like people need to step away from this. The Republican’s are going to try and make her look bad and the Democrats are going to try and make her look good. Nothing of value will really be learned here.
Yeah, I have very little interest in a Jim Jordan (a man who ignored systemic sexual assault) led grill session.
The law is the bar that needs to be met, and Lina Kahn is losing by that standard. I dont need to watch a congressional roast to massage my confirmation biases.
FYI:
The NASDAQ 100 Index is not the NASDAQ exchange itself. The NASDAQ 100 index is a group of 100 companies that are used to track how the overall market is doing. This is similar to the Dow Jones Industrial Average (30 companies), or the S&P 500. So basically if you buy a NASDAQ100 index fund you won’t get ATVI in there any more.
Yes this probably in preparation of the company becoming part of MSFT, but not necessarily an indicator they know anything.
