Microsoft-Activision-Blizzard Discussion Thread |OT3| - Sony bends the knee!

Ugh, the usual suspects are coming out of the woodwork on social media again, they are clearly holding out lots of hope FTC will manage to do even anything, lmao, sigh.

Let’s hope it’s over soon, for real. You’d think they would get it now, accept your damned loss.

I think Sony worrying about Game Pass probably pre-dates the MLB contract. They likely had their back up against the wall and had to make whatever deal MLB wanted. They had an entire studio dedicated to the game and at the time I think it was their only game that could be classified as GaaS, so the loss for the annual revenue was probably something they wouldn’t want to stomach

Exhibit B: Death Stranding on PC Gamepass

I think that’s a bit different. They signed the console publishing agreement and I’m guessing they weren’t focusing on PC yet whenever Kojima wanted to expand the game to PC so it bit them in the ass.

These Call of Duty contracts were signed years ago. We can agree to disagree if you want, but to me it seems unlikely that PlayStation was smart enough to even mention Gamepass in those contracts.

If Sony were smart they would have tried to negotiate amendments in later years (maybe even after the acquisition was announced). It may be why we’ve seen the occasional CoD game on PS+, but never on Game Pass.

Edit: I’m also not saying you’re wrong, just stating my opinion on the situation. I have absolutely no knowledge on this, am relying purely on speculation and am in all likelihood partly, if not mostly wrong.

thats not true. Brad does have a lot of Microsoft inside sources. He may be out of his depth a bit like a lot of us with this legal side. however, to say he is Pachter of Micrsoft insiders isn’t true.

While this is a gross negligence as far as use of tax payer dollars. It is interesting we are now in situation where we are seeing which is quicker will hte court systems grant any kind of in restraining order or hold on the closing process before 11:59 pm on Friday? Will Microsoft and ABK be standing by at 12am Saturday morning to sign and close the deal?

Its like a race

will Activision games be on Game Pass by next monday/tuesday if they close on Monday?

Nah

But Bethesda games came to Game Pass the day they got acquired didn’t they?

From what I recall, it took a while for more Bethesda titles to hit GamePass. I sort of remember some were on the service before hand, but that was prior to acquisition.

I think documentary is warranted.

The Evil Within 2 and Wolfenstien 2 weren’t there but most of the other games were. Including all the Elder Scrolls and Fallout games available on Xbox.

This was announced 2 days after the Bethesda acquisition at the roundtable.

Its not a race - the court will have to rule on a stay before cop Friday to decide. Microsoft won’t be able to do anything before the court make a ruling and the court won’t be able to delay since they know if they do its too late.

Nobody here knows the answer to this question

The court actually has no duty to respond in that time period and Microsoft has no duty to wait for a response.

One made a good point. Blizzcon this year will be rather interesting. Once ABK becomes part of the family, how they will approach and such will be really interesting to see how they interact and what not.

In fact, if Xbox does have something in mind for Gamescom, how will they approach with ABK. Imagine fans’ reaction being more uplifting than not-E3 event. Oh exciting times are coming!

The court doesn’t have to rule before friday. It’s one of those situations where: “Your lack of planning doesn’t constitute an emergency on my part.” The court will have to rule on the appeal but there is no law or mechanism that mandates they have to rule before 11:59pm friday.
