Microsoft-Activision-Blizzard Discussion Thread |OT3| - Sony bends the knee!

Blame the CMA lol.

I rather suspect what the CMA and MS need to come to an agreement has already been decided. They had meetings, we didn’t hear the outcome of those meetings. And there’s no point in negotiating if there’s no common ground to be had. I’d be willing to bet they’ve got this worked out of 90% of the way there. There’s no incentive for the CMA to be argumentative and try to delay considering they already got smacked once for trying to delay things. And for Microsoft they’ve already got their speedy hearing so no need to delay for them. Only reason to do so is if both parties are confident there’s going to be a positive resolution.

So we can expect ABK games on Gamepass by the end of this month?

Me holding out on buying Diablo 4 and waiting for it to be on Gamepass with my subscription will pay off.

That is some common sense and very likely spot-on reasoning for what is going on. I agree that they have had countless talks throughout, so there aren’t likely some big surprises to occur for either side at this point.

I just want to play Diablo and do an old cod campaigns marathon lol

A divestiture means selling something. Or spinning something out. I don’t think any of the proposed solutions would address the issue nor amount to a divestiture. Super curious what the plan is.

Divestiture is the obvious way for the cma to climb down without losing face as they can’t be seen to accept behavioural remedies.

But only thing I can think of is divesting xcloud UK. But then who would buy it and how would MS work that given that it would completely change their offering in the U.K….

If everything goes according to plan, we will get Diablo 2, Diablo 3, Diablo 4, and all of the COD games on Gamepass minus the ones that have PlayStation marketing.

It will be a glorious day when it drops.

What timing.

CoD games that have PS marketing, those are a lot though, right? Ah well, once that runs out we’ll get those too.

We still get the best ones aka before last gen.

Weren’t the campaigns of some current and last gen CoDs quite good? It’s solely about the SP for me with the old ones. And maybe zombie modes.

Revenge is so very very sweet.

They were. Still doesn’t peaked old MW trilogy, WaW, and BO 1/2.

Some of the UK press will present this as Another Brexit Victory, a victory for British Sovereignty against Big Bad Amercian Tech. The fact that Brits will have to pay Ā£70 for future CoD games won’t be an issue to such people.

Quoting myself from 3 weeks ago:

Suddenly , things can be that easy LOL. The CMA probably doesn’t want to be humiliated in court in front of its taxpayers like the FTC was, there’s probably some pressure from the government.

i believe this year is the last year of the PS COD contract. I believe once that contract with Sony runs out, we will get all of the COD on Gamepass regardless.

Yeah. The judge pretty much shut every argument down in her ruling. If the FTC does decide to keep fighting, they’ll essentially have to find some other grounds to stand on. They don’t have any. So still opposing the ruling is no more than out of spite, imo.

I find it ironic that a guy… That calls himself Dreamcastguy, would suck off Sony like that. Didn’t PlayStation contribute to the killing of his Beloved Dreamcast.

The fact that the CMA went back to the negotiating table as soon as the FTC lost the PI is an indicator to me that they were mostly acting with the FTC to delay the deal. I’m sure since this involves two American companies they simply wanted to help the FTC and likely expect the FTC to back them up if it were UK companies.

More likely the FTC went for the PI because they heard CMA was going to negotiate.
