Truthfully, the real outcome from this predictable outcome is the open closet of Sony.

Microsoft (MSFT) is offering a “small and discrete” divestiture to the UK’s Competition and Markets Authority that it believes the regulator will accept, according to CNBC’s David Faber, who cited sources. It’s unclear what exactly the divestiture is. A deal could close as as soon as Monday, before a termination deadline for the mega deal.

It will be the Cloud element.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they dropped it in the UK

Folks seem to think games will stay multiplatform, I saw this on a Dutch tech forum. People should realize that’s CoD and everything that exists now.

New IP, I doubt that very much. Even a possible CoD spin off i can see being exclusive.

I think everything CoD including spin-offs will remain on everything Microsoft can put it on, I even think they won’t remove it after the 10 year deals are up, I don’t think CoD will ever be exclusive. Also games already released/promised to PS5 will continue to get the same support as the Xbox version, including next-gen updates, like Diablo IV getting a PS6 update whenever that happens.

I do think they will make everything else exclusive, even something like Diablo V and Overwatch 3. I could be wrong though, this deal is unlike anything we’ve ever seen before so its probably being looked at with a different set of rules by MS, only time will tell.

Wow that’s a ton.

That’s such a weird remedy because it would give consumers less choice lol.

Can’t wait until we do this again 12 months from now :

Glad things seem to be moving fast on this now. Hopefully MS/Xbox invests internally or on studios going forward. They don’t need any more publishers and there are a number of studios I’d much rather they invest in. It would also save us all from another year+ of tired conversations about what they will or won’t do.

They’ll probably be able to get SEGA before they pass Sony in revenue but after then I think they’ll get a bunch of blowback, they’ll stick with single studios like IOI/ASOBO and so on.

They can do both and have been doing both as we speak, tons of teams have already grown.

So totally in line with what we would accept

We love screwing over our own people

MS has aggressively expanded basically every studio they own

Yeah, I don’t know - maybe they looked at the capacity of Cloud in the UK (5k customers) and thought it wasn’t worth it?

Maybe we get some news tomorrow/Thursday evening

I know and agree. I’m just not a fan of them purchasing any more publishers. We know they are planning to acquire more, so I hope they turn their attention to just studios. Doubt it’ll happen, but I’d love for them to repair their relationship with Remedy and work something out there. Now that Embracer is in a tough spot after their deal fell through, maybe MS can buy Crystal Dynamics, Eidos Montreal, and Square Enix Montreal. All of that is more interesting to me than them targeting another publisher.

Yeah and I didn’t say they didn’t. I’d prefer they focus on that and studio acquisitions is all I’m saying.

How fast after Zenimax closed did they added the truckload of games?

Iirc, they added most of the games days after closing. Then, they added another wave of games in that year’s Xbox Game Showcase.

I honestly think SEGA will be the last one, then they’ll focus on studios like you mentioned because with SEGA they will be very well rounded and the single studios like IOI will fill in small gaps.
