The thing is, it would be pointless of the judge to say she’d try to get in done in time for 18th (so by today at the latest), if she didn’t think she could in time. If she felt she needed a couple more days, she should also notify the parties/public to that effect as well.

Since it could potentially be the last week, what do you think Microsoft’s strategy would be if the deal does go through?

On the other hand, what do you think Microsoft will do if the deal doesn’t go through?

Put Diablo IV, Tony Hawk pro skater etc on game pass in the next few months (no cod till end of 2024 or 205 due to contractual obligations with Sony) if the deal goes through. If it doesn’t go through, nothing. You will see Microsofts acquisitions be silent for the next few years most likely.

Decision now expected on Wed/Thur according to a link from Idas.

But I thought any day after today would be too late?

the latter option will make the doom gloom dept more annoying than before, then the money spent will return to ms to buy minor publishers or studios

Wasn’t 18th the deadline? Interesting.

But it needed 5 days for the appeal or something.

The things you hear on social media may not be 100% accurate, If there really is a deadline like that then MS and ABK would be walking away from the merger soon

Thursday might as well be never, based on the fact it’s going to cost MS billions of dollars for the sake of the judge being able to have a nice, relaxing weekend.

You do realize the judge is doing other work at the same time, right?

It’ll be okay guys

There is a 5 day period normally following a decision to allow for appeal. During that period MS can’t close. However the judge in theory could shorten that period if she chose. The more likely scenario is the one discussed on Twitter that whilst it will go beyond the end date that end date doesn’t kill the deal if both sides simply agree to allow a few extra days. The end date passes it means one or both can walk away but if they don’t want to it’s not a hard date.

The question is whether MS want to extend by months for the CAT anyway. That would render the 18th moot. But they’d not renegotiate that until they know the PI decision.

Its also an arbitrary date in which we don’t know the terminology for. As yes a 3billion dollar fee becomes payable on July 18th but we don’t know what clauses exist along with that. since they are literally waiting for a judges decision does that date become a bit moot as its just waiting for legal decision? we don’t really know without seeing the actual contract in full to know what was included in clauses around that date.

Have both sides extended the date already? We really know don’t know. Has the judge or her staff verbally notified them prior or spoke with them via some zoom meeting? We really don’t know for sure as this is a bit of a unique situation and even professionals are doing just a bit of educated guessing based on precedence but its a fluid situation.

Damn, that’s a lot of we don’t knows. Here I thought we at least had the 18th, for something to happen, haha.

Ah well, the wait continues.

She’s a judge, not Microsoft’s minion.

She’ll finish it when she’s ready, we know from the entire court process that she’s taking this pretty seriously. People are getting entirely too antsy lol.
