Microsoft-Activision-Blizzard Discussion Thread |OT3| - Sony bends the knee!

I’ve, said it previously but if the deal goes through I think Microsoft will continue to push a yearly release as long as the studios can hit the target. The hearing only reinforced that belief. The Microsoft board Expect ABK to keep it’s value while in the Microsoft portfolio and really the only way to do that is with a yearly COD. If they moved it to every two years they would need something that would generate as much revenue to fill in the gap year which is highly unlikely

While I agree you have to consider a large part of the revenue is purely Warzone. So it depends on if you consider Warzone updates part of the yearly release or not.

Over the last decade activision has brought on more and more devs to keep the yearly releases of COD coming. Their first fix was bringing on sledgehammer as the third dev studio making their own game. Then they brought in everyone they had to support their studio’s essentially. And even then they are barely getting COD out yearly.

I think even if Xbox didn’t buy activision they would have to start taking some years off. It will also help with fatigue.

Cod will either switch to every other year, or they will have 3 games every 4 years. That way each team will have 4 years to make their game, with the support studios helping. Think switching to release every other year is more likely.

So we won’t necessarily hear anything this week? Or unclear yet?

Unclear. It’s going to be a random announcement time schedule.

But if not this week, it might then be we’ll be waiting until that deadline after all? July 18, iirc?

Doubt it, but just be alert.

For sure, definitely a big difference between the two but I can understand why some people, even ones that watched the trial are spooked after the CMA

I would think the FTC and Microsoft could at the very least find out this week as based on what the judge said during the trial. As she had made comments about working over the weekend and holiday on this. We the public may not find out this week.

What’s sad is that people will believe it. I did NOT read it and refuse to out of principle, but I’m assuming they’re making hay out of the quote where the judge said that they’d already won with the EC getting concessions.

Come on…seriously?

Yep

Yes, you need a lot of Devs worker to make Call Of Duty every other year. They take turns making and supporting COD every year.
