So from starting tomorrow… Decision may come any day?
CMA are very much backed into as corner on this one. Their own government wants this passed, the CAT is furious at them, they don’t seem to be able to get enough staff together to defend their case properly because they stalled for so long, hoping that FTC would scupper the deal.
All in all, they have been a complete shambles.
It is certainly likely to be this week, based on judge Corley’s comments. She doesn’t want to leave it right up to the 18th July extension deadline date.
No offense but I wouldn’t put any weight on these polls, they are in a Xbox centric location therefore bias and answered by people who are not legal experts or involved in the process therefore misinformed.
I would stay pessimistic until we get the formal decision.
It’s not personal, it annoys me when various YouTube people do this too, the data is completely unreliable. It’s basically the whole echo chamber argument…
True. I generally block people on Twitter and form a nice bubble of people that all mostly share my same opinions But hey just because we are Xbox gamers doesn’t mean we are wrong. I personally think it’s ridiculous to think that Microsoft would get permission from every country except UK and just say ‘aww shucks, put their head down, and walk away’, I just don’t see that happening.
I wish the verdict was live like we are witnessing the verdict of guilty or not guilty, instead of just post it. Makes the moment all the more thrilling.
Anyone got a link to the website where the verdict will be uploaded?
Destin (youtuber) said he was on it and refreshing it often but didn’t link it.
Let the mad refresh rate begin!
That’s obvious but that “data” tracks unless you look for the opposite end of the spectrum. Unless folks think resetera is a Xbox echo chamber…
Don’t think the decision will be uploaded today as it’s a federal holiday.
She’s putting her decision under seal so we won’t know straight away
Haha, as an introvert I tend to just block everyone
We can only make lots of assumptions at this stage, for example the FTC likely went for the PI as either MS notified them they were going to close or they thought they may have intentions to close soon.
If MS notified that they intended to close then we can also assume they likely have a solution for the UK.
Obviously this all depends on the PI being granted or not anyway, hopefully we will get a decision soon but we know this will still likely drag on until August/September anyway. Even if they close the regulators could still do a Meta/Giphy situation later this year and we’re back at square one.
How so? Bias or unreliable data is as good as no data at all IMO? Did they do the same survey at resetera?
My point is your not going to get reliable results. For example if you want to know how fast a person can run a certain stretch of distance, but you only survey asthmatic individuals how does that apply to the whole population?
Or you want to know what the hardest word to spell is but you only survey dyslexic individuals your answers likely won’t be the same as the whole population.
In this case even a wider population won’t answer the survey sufficiently as they won’t have enough information/knowledge on the case or legal system in order to answer it either.
We won’t know reasoning, but final decision may be in filling description (like “Motion granted/denied”) or we get press release from FTC/MS (and maybe CMA afterwards).
I thought the whole thing would be under seal and only both parties will know?
That’s my understanding.

We will see the basic outcome in the form of a docket entry that says the motion was denied. (Theoretically it could say “granted” or “granted in part, denied in part”.)
Ah ok, thanks for clearing that up.
There’s a famous Rush lyric… “if you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice”
The CMA chose to delay things past the deadline. Even by stalling and delaying, it was still the UK’s choice to do so. It will be thier own fault for being made irrelevant and forcing the world to move on without them. Like I said a couple months ago, the only power the cma ever really had was to hurt UK gamers. It really might be the case that Activision will not be on Gamepass in the uk, that’s the corner the UK government is backing themselves into.
