ESO and FF14 are generally in the same ball park for earning on steam.
In the steam top earners for 2022 ESO was right after FF14 in the silver category. Of course we still need to add what money they make from their launcher and consoles but I don’t think how much money FF14 or any FF makes is a good enough reason to buy square, Dragon Quest on the other hand.

I think everyone assumed we wouldn’t have CoD until 2025 so if this goes through, Sony will only be associated with CoD for another few months

Yup if everything goes Microsoft way, 2024 CoD will launch on game pass with advertising everywhere.
To be fair, a poor foundation for a case could make any attorney seem incompetent.
I honestly do not think Dragon Quest makes as much as FF does anymore, but I would imagine acquiring a publisher with one of the biggest service games available right now prolly matters more than the portfolio as a whole
