I can’t believe Michael Pachter is correct about the CMA offering Microsoft a way to get the deal done if they promise not to increase the price of Game Pass post-deal. Not when the stated reason for the block had very little to do with GP to begin with.

Was there any time frame for that, because it would be pretty ridiculous if it was like 10 years. I would also like to point out what if Microsoft had plans to increase it regardless and it was their plan way before ABK, how are they able to determine the cause of the increase price.

I don’t know this whole thing seems weird haha.

Ironically that would indeed be a consumer friendly order by the CMA, but it’s extremely unlikely. Whilst they’re at it they could do something about Sony increasing the cost of its PS5 in Britain as well (hell, what about every other firm abusing inflation right now to up the prices of their goods, across all market sectors).

Actually it makes sense to me. The fear of monopolies is companies with a strangle hold on the industry will then raise prices as all choice is eliminated.

If the eu blocks it its all over. Ms knows this. Not amazed by this outcome at all the uk is known for totally incompetent leadership. But I just dont comprehend how its possible to go dark for 2 weeks. Why didnt they say yo ms this aint gonna cut it we need more remedies or whatever solution you can come up with so we can approve it. Why didnt ms ask them if it was ok or more was needed? All this just shows cma only ever wanted to block the deal imo. They were just looking for a dumb excuse.

You invest in an almost bankrupt company and build it into a multi billion dollar corporation just for fun! The guy has the business smarts, no matter how you want to spin it. He is one of the main reasons why ABK is huge today even if he is a POS.

Xbox needs to come out and start making third party deals. It’s all they can do and if they don’t they will be handing more ground and momentum to Sony. They should be doing this right now and then they can say to the cma this is what you’ve forced us to do to compete.

That’s a pretty solid point. Assuming EU approves and this appeal process is slow, what you said is a very smart win/win scenario for Xbox and a lose/lose scenario for the cma (and Sony)

PlayStation and the cma would be mad about new Xbox exclusive deals but only have themselves to blame. Not only that it would highlight what it means to have Xbox compete in the same approved style that PlayStation does (money hats).
