It was a tangent related to “big tech is big”. The control of access (internet), compute and storage primarily with big tech is going to a problem in the future. Like I said, I don’t really think that this necessarily applies in this case or really adds an substantial harm.
My takeaway from this is what others and I suggested a few weeks ago. There have only been a few cases heard at CAT regarding M&A and this is very unique. As such, we are going to see quite a different review than the handful of cases prior.
Clearly, everyone even us underestimated Microsoft.
a few people on the internet with clear biases tried to convince people that the facts didn’t matter at all, but clearly they forget to let the CAT know!
I might have misheard a bit but it sounded like he might be new to the case within the past couple days. Might have misunderstood though. But it does seem he is having his points interrupted a bit.
Yeah I laughed at that.
Lol it seems like the guy just assumed they’d look at schedules, delay and be on their way
AGAIN CMA saying they need 2 weeks to read 10 witness statements with the largest one being 25 pages, Microsoft had 1 week to submit their appeal and that was 480 pages.
Lol what
CMA sure love talking about the unexpected future.
CMA are literally saying they don’t have enough people to do the case in a fast way… as if that’s the courts problem or Microsoft.
uhhhhhhh cma guy just basically said, umm hypothetically if we made a unbelievably bad case killing error, can we ignore it and make a new argument?
Microsoft Lawyer saying the CMA should’ve asked 3rd party cloud providers questions about market definitions, just like the EU did which game to a different conclusion.
Cma
Well i mean when there is absolutely no evidence in your favor, and you don’t have crazy money, it’s hard to get a decent one to sign in for a guaranteed L
I honestly was going to refer to that but the movie is old, think I’ll feel old when no one would remember.
Sassy Beard
OOF Microsoft lawyer taking shots at CMA’s lawyer
This is the most entertaining thing ever!
I find courtroom drama interesting, and this - with little to no stakes, in truth, not like a criminal trial but just billion of dollars - this is very interesting.
