Microsoft-Activision-Blizzard Discussion Thread |OT2| The NeverEnding Acquisition

Sony could except if the CMA does not block the deal as there little Microsoft can do to overturn the CMA decision. FTC and European trade Commision have weak case and good chance to lose in court. Sony not Stupid. They will take the deal then Incase that Microsoft wins in court with no restrictions

Yeah, I don’t think they will either. Though, this is very much the best possible deal Sony could reasonably get and the only reason they would refuse to take it is to influence the deal. Something Hoeg law pointed out - regulators aren’t going to be unaware when companies are acting in bad faith in order to damage a deal like this. But of course, I don’t think the FTC are exactly interested in that, but perhaps the CMA and the EC will take note.

Microsoft wants the deal done. While 10 years is a long time…bare in mind they bought DoubleFine in June 2019 and they only started making Xbox exclusives in September 2021 after they finished the multiplatform Psychonauts. Over 2 years.

They can wait 10 for CoD. Yes, its bullshit. But …we all know what happens when the contracts are up.

This Is the big move. MS Is giving what Regulators could ask to approve the agreement. In this case Sony showed that they want not the agreement itself without a valid reasons now.

I don’t think it’ll go that far lol.

It’s a bad faith offer from MS because they know Sony wouldn’t have the money to do that plus it also removes that bad faith request from Sony to have it on their subscription service.

This offer does show me that MS knows what’s at stakes right now and how dire the situation is. They are very much willing to offer multiple concessions to get this deal done.

The nightmare that Sony is trying to avoid at all cost.

Ah, so this is older news - I was perhaps too quick in suggesting this confirms Microsofts intent to continue with the deal regardless. Granted, I still don’t think they’re going to pull out.

Apparently this was already offered with the 10 year extension.

Might of been better if CoD was not in the top 5 games in sales.

This. Microsoft needs to grow some balls and truly fight this shit instead of giving in. Regulators acting like Microsoft is #1. lmao

Wait, there’s not a bad faith. MS Is going to spend 70 bilions to have the right to out these games on Gamepass. It could be not a free option for PS.

There is no indication that the situation is dire because not a single regulator came up with any decent argument against the deal.

Idc anymore the quicker this goes through, the quicker they can buy Asobo, crystal, eidos,io and certain affinity

Huh ? I’m talking about MS offering the rights to Sony for having COD on Ps plus.

Exactly, Microsoft should be able to do whatever it wants with COD IP. Imagine Disney offering other services the rights to release their content in their services. (though it happens with the cable networks)

There is no indication that Microsoft is planning to buy them anyway :man_shrugging: I find it the same argument as “I wish the deal is blocked so they could buy XXX”. With this deal is too much at stake for it to be blocked or abandoned.

I mean you think they might potentially offer them marketing rights lol, you said it, not me.

Yeah, just that it was revealed now.

This entire saga is just getting absurd lol…wish it’d end one way or another.

Yes, i understood. I modified my post. I mean, if Sony wants these games on its service they have to pay for it. MS Is spending 70 bilions for that.
