Microsoft-Activision-Blizzard Discussion Thread |OT2| The NeverEnding Acquisition

No doubt Xbox would have been allowed to buy 10 Bungie sized studios, wouldn’t that have been equivalent to buying ABK when it comes to cloud? No one would would have raised an eyebrow then.

The $69 billion price tag is what getting everyone going hurr durr big tech domination.

Florian is a good guy but we need to stop putting weight here on his view and listen to those who’ve been through it in the UK process. They all have a different view about likely outcome. And they were right about the CMA and unwillingness to accept behavioural remedies. We need to listen to those people.

UK is already a rogue state. Left EU.

Again our political system is but I’m still proud to be a Brit! I can’t speak for Scotland but I’m in Essex and I’m very happy .

We need the Tories out to start with. The whole political system is so out of date and out of touch with the people of the UK - it needs a complete reboot. I also think parliament needs to move out of London to see what the rest of the UK is like!

They can send it back to the CMA. But don’t listen to what anybody here tells you. We all were wrong on how this would develop most of the time. So if somebody assures you here, that of couse MS will win a appeal, they know absolutely nothing.

Amen to all this. Agree entirely.

The problem is that there is relatively little UK interest in this deal beyond the gaming community. I doubt the Tories care much either way!

Another year of this song and dance…

I’m dead wrong before, so i say it a waste of time and will be block again. I hope i’m wrong again lol.

Can you please stop slagging off ones country . If MS and XBox sold better most countries it wouldnt be in this situation and needing to buy Activision.

No needs to slag off countries .

We were wrong in believing the CMA would act rationally, but i agree though that nothing is for sure anymore

MS should have let the initial console concerns go through with the faulty math & then skewer the CMA with an appeal based on their mistake.

Because as things stand MS might have shot themselves in the foot by correcting something which wasn’t a mistake per se but rather the CMA’s deliberate path towards blocking the deal, one way or another. Once the console market math was proven to be faulty, they invented new math out of thin air.

But this one is even crazier & way more dangerous because it places Windows at the heart of blocking MS from acquisitions because they’ll always be able to say “MS has Windows ergo MS must be blocked”.

I think it’s time for MS to go back to the root of the problem & start lobbying some business friendly politicians in America & in Europe. It’s now proven to be almost mission impossible to properly run a big ambitious business when ideologues like Lina Khan (& whomever anonymous party sits in the CMA) are running around with an anti-MS outlook.

They literally signed a deal with a ton of different cloud providers lol and even included their own games which wasn’t even part of the deal.

Facts are the USA went into recession last year, the UK did not and theres a housing crisis in the UK, USA, Ireland to name but a few .

No one more upset than me with the news, but there’s no need to slag off countries over gaming.
