They have a statutory deadline. If they miss it then the acquisition/merger is automatocally approved.
Imagine if that actually happen?
Win-win if you ask me.
That would be monumentally hilarious and simultaneously sad for being the biggest waste of time in history.
It would be very unfortunate if their Windows-based PCs/Azure-based cloud servers suddenly stopped working in the days leading up to the deadline.
Is CMA really using Azure server? After Brexit they seem to not like anything foreign even if it hurts their economy. Such a backwards way or thinking. lol
Iâm actually not sure. You would have to think itâs one of the big three of AWS, Azure or Google. Then again, the UK is full of surprises.
Maybe it their own in house / in country own brand of Brexit cloud.
That would be freaking hilarious and as @howlingmosquito said, the biggest waste of time in human history and a massive L to the CMA. Dont think they are that stupid though but I wish
With how this whole process has gone, why not? lets go out with a bang
Hopefully its all finished by end of next week and we can move on.
Really looking forward to that CMA decision, if they really go for a block, the reasonings will be so ridiculous that I donât think it doesnât get overruled by CAT, because the only reason I think they can use is âMicrosoft will be able to have a monopoly in the streaming market 10-15-20? years from nowâ
Yeah, despite new massive tech companies entering the market like Tencent and Netflix that already have huge catalogs of popular IP. Heck it seemslike Take 2 will enter it soon too and they have GTA. Nintendo will enter at some point too and have the best catalog.
And this is why I donât think you can reasonably block this by using streaming as a reason, CODâs popularity isnât a guaranteed forever thing, Sony and Nintendo can likely partner with some tech giants to enter the streaming market as well and automatically have a huge audience likely even bigger than Microsoftâs due to the brand power alone, I donât see how you can punish Microsoft for being one of the few companies taking streaming seriously this early on.
Iâm hoping so, CMA said that it could finish earlier back in January when they changed administrative timeline. The incoming weeks are going to be fun. Maybe we will end with part 3 of the this thread by then.
Thereâs nothing new in this unnecessary alarmist titled article, just the "oh the UK, EU and FTC are scrutinizing the deal and if one of them block it could be problematic for MS
"
But this part caught my attention:
If the CMA takes a harder line than Brussels on the Microsoft and Activision Blizzard deal, it would mark the first time since Brexit that the UK regulator has differed from the EU in such a major case.
But deep-pocketed Microsoft could appeal to the competition appeals tribunal, where experts say they have a real chance of winning.
Nothing shocking to be honest. Itâs been well known that any decision that isnât an approval would be appeal. I guess we will seeing a lot of these articles reiterating the same thing.
Iâve never wanted a weekend to be over with until right now I want to skip ahead until we get the next update.
I know the CMA says the 26th but it appears (from Idas) we could get info or even a answer before then.
