Microsoft-Activision-Blizzard Discussion Thread |OT2| The NeverEnding Acquisition

Yep. I even said when the last fake Fable rumor arose he would do it again soon and he has. Its infuriating as an Xbox fan to have to listen to terrible takes from someone connected, especially when theres way more evidence that Xbox likes having exclusives.

Theres having opinions and theres takes that border on “Xbox won’t leave money on the table” blind denial.

Exactly

I listen to Jez reguarly and you’re portraying him in a way that isn’t close to reality. How about you calm down with your irrational Jez hate?

I doubt Sony locked down a less than 1 hour long free VN. I think they just don’t see enough of a point to put resources into porting it.

Let’s keep it civil and on topic or I’m going to have to start deleting posts and handing out silences.

Again, this is the ABK Acquisition thread, not the twitter user comment one that has little to nothing to do with the acquisition itself.

It’s an Xbox Games Studio porting their game to Xbox, imo, the only way that it can be considered a waste of resources is it was being done by a third party while they focused on future games.

GW: Tokyo’s visual novel has nothing to do with the ABK acquisition

I like Jez but when it comes to acquisitions (Bethesda and ABK), he’s said for both that the games would be multi-platform including PlayStation and I don’t understand why. I can see keeping the already released games on PlayStation because they’re already on the platform and for live service games like Fallout 76 and The Elder Scrolls Online, they would just keep updating with new content.

Future game wise, excluding COD since that seems to be all but guaranteed, I don’t see any new future installments or new IP’s being on PlayStation because it makes zero sense. What’s the point in acquiring publishers just to give your competition everything while your competition takes everything they can get their dirty filthy hands on away?

COD 2023, Overwatch 2, Diablo IV and the Crash racing game will be multi-platform since they’ve already been announced as such but future wise, nah, I don’t see it happening. Microsoft isn’t spending what will eventually be over hundreds of billions of dollars (if it isn’t already) on the Xbox platform overall just to give it to their competitors as opposed to growing their own platform which is what all of these acquisitions is all about.

I will engage in the exclusivity talk when the deal is 90%/95% sure to be done (which would be all regulators approval minus the FTC) . Until then…OMG only 12 working days to know the decision of the final boss!!

I never said he wasn’t and of course he’s entitled to his opinions however bad they may often be but when you’re in the position he’s in and more is expected of you, expect to be criticised when you say stupid stuff

Anyway, this is going way off topic

the sony’s deals contract to deliver in 7th april is redacted?

Exactly lol. The deal is still a little way off 100% certain to go through atm and people are already arguing over exclusivity.

It’s something else to talk about regarding ABK instead of same shit, different day. lol

That and this.

Is why Sony is fighting against this deal so hard, they don’t want equality but to have a PlayStation advantage even in 3rd party games, I think it’s clear that stuff like this lead Microsoft to have to buy publishers to compete on more equal terms with PlayStation eventually.

And I don’t know what others think but imo an industry where a dominant leader can have so much influence over 3rd party publishers isn’t healthy, they know they can get marketing for most big games without having to do much just because of their industry position, this is why ABK going through is important to me, Sony shouldn’t get marketing for COD literally by default because they have more market share.

One argument I saw a lot was that Microsoft owning COD would remove Sony’s ability to bid for the next marketing deal, they forget that maybe Sony got it by default due to their market share, if buying some publishers is what it takes to make things more “even” then go ahead :man_shrugging:t3:

Although I doubt Microsoft is getting another big publisher any time soon, I could see some independent studios like Asobo and maybe CDPR though.

Boy, Sony really is a petty kind of company. Why behave so ridiculously against the competition, even in patents?

If anything, it shows that they’ve been afraid of Microsoft for a long time.

Not to go off topic; someone posted that back in 2018, Xbox finally figured out that it was Microsoft and vice versa. And for almost two decades, it was like Microsoft just stayed on the ropes and got pummeled by this midget opponent. Until one day they just figured out, “wait a second! You mean I can kick this little bastards ass and still be home in time for supper??”

Just weird how long it took all this to transpire.

Microsoft doesn’t have to go for other big publishers. Bethesda and ABK can though, clearly. Hell, they can seek out acquisitions and get money from Microsoft to make the purchase. Shits crazy…

Once Microsoft owns them I’m sure it would be considered as part of Microsoft but yeah I wish Bethesda would go out there and get some more studios and grow, they need another big studio and start working on Fallout 5 right now, having Elder Scrolls and Fallout only once every 10-15 years sounds awful to me.

My answer to these “b-b-but Sony” things are always the same

So?

Sony aren’t entitled to anything, they aren’t entitled to marketing deals, exclusive content or anything CoD, period
