If they did…they’d fail. A contract was offered and rejected. Crazy thing is, MS offered 3 years, then 8, streaming, PSN+…all rejected.
Now
- EU is going to pass it with no lasting contract with Sony
- CMA is going to pass it with no lasting contract with Sony
- FTC will be seen in court, lose and as such no concessions will be given.
MS went into this since Day 3 offering “more CoD” and now, globally dont have to offer CoD to Sony at all.
Xbox holds all the cards. Sony has no negotiation power in the slightest. They’ve already lost.

I have been tempted to buy the Spyro trilogy but with this new news, I will just wait on it going into Game Pass. Hopefully, Microsoft increases the frame rate to 60fps for Series X/S.

I’m in a similar boat 
Out of everything I’ve ever said in favour of this acquisition - what Microsoft could do with Blizzard, with King, with one of the biggest gaming franchises in the world Call of Duty…that’s all NOTHING to me in comparison to what I really want - more Crash and Spyro.
Under Activision I don’t think these franchises have much of a future, especially if Crash Team Rumble tanks (it’s supposed to be pretty fun, but even at a reduced price that’s a tough sell). If Microsoft just give Toys for Bob the same freedom they give all their other studios without the expectation of a platformer being some massive seller? Fuck yes.
And hey while they’re at it they could get Crash Team Rumble on game pass day one and give it an actual fighting chance (June 20th, could just barely happen!), and maybe see if Beenox wants to make more kart games, and maybe launch CTR on PC while they are at it, and get the old titles on backwards compatable. There’s SO much that could come from this.

Oh yeah I remember reading the CMA apparently didn’t like behavioral remedies because they didn’t like or know how to monitor them. I guess this is were the work done by MS in EU comes to play as it would eliminate such concerns without look unreasonable.
I dont know about the time aspect. Apparently there have been deals were regulators have agree 10 years (with renewal) is more than enough to easy concerns but if that helps the chances of the deal going through by 100%+ I would do it. It seems there will be more news on MS side and I think it will relate to this deal (hopefully!) so lets see what more things will MS bring to the table.
I agree and as I said that would be far too more extreme to do when there are mora than reasonable and archivable solutions to help prevent “foreclosure” or whatever rides regulator’s boat.
That’s why I should make more deals with more cloud providers. No that I think what they have done is not enough but everything action that helps this deal sail more smoothly is welcome!

I would like to add that the talks about percentages and all are kind of useless when everything happening so far has gotten against most calculations of people and thats because the nature of this deal is very “unique” compared to past cases (vertical, not ilegal, situation of the market favoring it, just one party complaining, MS doing unthinkable things to help it going through…etc).
I said a couple of post above that Unprecedented conditions lead to unprecedented outcomes and that’s kind of what we are seeing right now with the CMA accepting they were wrong when everyone agrees for that to happen the planets have to be alienated soooo…lets just wait patiently what MS will do in the coming weeks, tahnkfully they are now the ones in control of the narrative now that Sony’s ridiculous concerns have been thrown out of the window.
