Microsoft-Activision-Blizzard Discussion Thread |OT2| The NeverEnding Acquisition

It would be pretty funny for Microsoft to have the power to pull it at any time if the regulators don’t make Microsoft give Sony the game, Microsoft could do all sorts of spooky shit if Sony don’t play nice lol

This is assuming the deal does pass

When do you think the ABK deal will pass?

Spring starts next Monday and for all intents and purposes runs through June. That is the original timeline specified. It will close by then. I don’t consider the FTC dealings to be required to be resolved to consider the deal closed since they are not moving to prevent the deal through Federal court.

If the purchase goes through it would be wise of MS to keep their offer (which we assume is somewhat generous) to Sony because it will benefit MS in the long run, but also force MS to compete a little bit more in regards to innovation. I think there will be good reason to look at haptics and motion controls in Xbox controllers if CoD continues to innovate in that area on the Dual Sense.

Secondly, hopefully it pushes Activision’s devs to better take advantage of DX12U and so the Xbox version shines brightest not because other versions are neutered but because of the hardware advantages of the Series consoles.

Yeah I’m not sure where the article comes from but there was this floating around twitter:

They don’t need to keep their offer as is, that offer will likely be overly generous. They just need to keep releasing the game on PS on standard terms.

The thing is, as we all know, that was always their intention anyway and this whole circus is for no reason.

CoD players on other platforms are gonna help fund Xbox for the foreseeable future. That recurring revenue is really gonna help MS when it comes to their gaming ambitions going forwards.

Yep. Sony knowing that they make (for example) $1 billion a year from CoD sales and MTX will be fizzing that MS will make $3.6 billion, assuming a 30% cut, on their platform.

Why do people insist that they will strike a deal with Shadow? I have used Shadow and it’s just a remote Windows 10 virtual machine which you can do as you like on it.

If anything, Shadow is a competitor to Windows 365.

I think that Sony’s desperation to cancel the deal is the only way out when it comes to the long term, so as not to have a very big defeat when the business model changes for good. We’ve thought a lot about the current model of consoles, but we’ve had a lot of changes in the market over the last 10 years.
Most provoked by Microsoft itself, which even though it is not a leader in sales, is a leader in innovation in the market. Sony has the perfect formula so far, but without the need for dedicated hardware, with people being able to choose between Xbox and PlayStation right on their TV, it’s a losing war for Sony.

I believe MS will make everything exclusive 10 years from now with streaming, even Minecraft. Netflix itself began to experience difficulties after the arrival of those who own the big IPs in the film and series market. Imagine a stream that has COD, TES, overwatch, candy crush, Wow, Forza, Minecraft. For Sony, it would be better for COD to become an Xbox exclusive now than 10 years from now. At this time it would have the strength of the brand and hardware. It could try to launch an exclusive competitor.
COD multiplataform, it’s impossible for any game to beat popularity, even for BF it’s a difficult path.

For Sony, all that remains is to break the relationship with Microsoft as much as possible, not accept any agreement and hope that Microsoft will retaliate and remove COD from the PlayStation, something that should not happen.

This acquisition will be happening I’m pretty confident at this point. I’m kind of kicking myself for not buying more activision shares when they were dropping during the doom and gloom stage.

How many of you guys own shares in Activision?
