Microsoft-Activision-Blizzard Discussion Thread |OT2| The NeverEnding Acquisition

To be fair, most phones do seem to cost more than a console

They did I believe this deal will go through with very few remedies once Sony gives up there dirty laundry and they won’t be looked at as the helpless innocent victim, once the deal approved Sony better be quick to respond with a slew of acquisitions publisher and independent studios cause Microsoft might be even more motivated to buy more publishers and studios because of Sonys interference with ABK.

Damn thread is moving fast again. Lots of catching up reading to do.

I know what you mean, can’t wait for this deal to get approved and be done with it, that way we can talk about the next one lol

Sony really confirming to anyone with half a brain cell that Microsoft isn’t fishing at all. If they aren’t and it really is about the performance reviews provide Microsoft and the FTC the other requested documents and stop stalling.

They obviously want the deal dead before they’re forced to air whatever dirty laundry Microsoft has requested. Hopefully regulators take the obvious stalling into account.

This one is simple. Was anyone at Sony targeted on destroying MS marketshare? Not increasing Sony, decreasing them. Was there bonuses for them leaving the industry? For every AAA exclusive denied to them?

This is relevant.

It is really sad what Sony has become. They are literally fighting tooth and nail to block the acquisition and thought Microsoft wouldn’t fight back?

When the endgame when Sony has to release their documents to FTC?

Dam can’t find the exact post but I have to agree with @Zappy5 in regards to the possibilities of the deal going through.

According to everyone, the only regulator that matters gave MS 3 options to give the deal the thumbs up:

  1. A super saiyan god behaborial remedy that could appease them (some say is extremelt unlikely but…who knows? Maybe it could happen)

  2. Divesture of COD but I dont know how it would look like. Get every IP from Activision (and maybe some studios there) and let the essential COD studios there? It says COD has to work well as an independant entity so who knows how it would look.

  3. Divesture of Activision. This would test those statements of “we did this acquisition mostly for PC and mobile game” and guess what…not only they would guet the biggest mobile western IP but also ome of the biggest publisher in the PC side with Blizzard (and it helps that it is also big on console) but Im pretty sure its not that simple.

So yeah, from this point on onward it depends in how much MS really wants this deal to happen. Days ago some people were 100% sure the CMA was going for a full block, now we know they gave MS ways to let the deal happen.

It is just wait and see guys!

All you need to know is that, while it isnt sure yet this is going through, the deal is far from death yet.

Don’t worry, no matter how low Sony may sink, they’ll always have a legion of brainwashed fanboys ready to defend them at all costs.

They are literally fighting to keep Activision Blizzard games off Game Pass and ensure consumers continue to have to cough up €70 - a rate set by Sony themselves - to play it on their hardware they keep increasing the price of. And their daft fans try to paint MS the villain here.

Meanwhile, the employees of ABK are practically begging for this deal to go through, but their opinions too are sacrificed on the alter of Sony Can Do No Wrong.

I hope MS gives them hell.

Get ready for a more outspoken Activision Blizzard, the company’s head of corporate affairs Lulu Cheng Meservey tells Axios.

  • She acknowledged some internal worry about the thread, specifically over whether it would anger Sony, which opposes the deal but also works with Activision to bring Call of Duty and other top company franchises to PlayStation.
  • “We’re a partner to them,” she says. “Were they worried about pissing us off when they tried to kill a really good deal that our employees wanted and that players wanted? Were they worried about pissing us off when they made all these claims that seem to be pretty disingenuous? And we didn’t take it personally. … They’re making the case for what’s best for their business.”

Shots fired.

Jack Tretton - Halo is a system seller, let’s create Killzone + Resistence.

Jim Ryan - COD is a system seller, let’s fly around the world begging regulators to block the deal

I’ll say this as well. I worked for very large multi national IT company. I was right at the forefront of the business dealings though not a direct decision maker.

Anyone who says that execs do not hold grudges, do not alter behaviour is a liar. I would bet not one person who has been there would say different.

The relationship between these three companies is effed for a very long time.

Hypocrite Sony at it again i see. Looks like they pissed off Activision to. Even if deal somehow fail, NO way Activision would keep that market deal with Sony after it runs out.

I don’t want Sony to fall apart. I just want them to go back to the PS1 and PS2 days where they actually competed instead of complaining and moneyhatting games off of other platforms.

And my biggest concern is the the CMA, FTC, and EU are too blinded on stopping “big tech” and protecting Sony’s business that they can’t grasp the bigger picture of this acquisition which is making a better and safer place for all the employees by removing Bobby Kotick and replacing the management.

The only reason COD is a system seller for PlayStation is because Sony (the market leader) does so many marketing deals with COD rather than creating a competitor to COD. If Sony is so worried about losing so much revenue from not having the marketing rights for COD anymore then maybe they should bring back KillZone or a new IP to compete against COD.

It has nothing to do with COD being exclusive because Sony knows COD will continue to be multiplatform. It’s more that COD is a big source of revenue for PlayStation.

Even if Sony was moneyhatting at least then they were competitive and weren’t begging government agencies and regulators to block a deal.

Sony moneyhat but that was necessary, Nintendo was think of there partners making the n64 if square stayed they would gone bankrupt just trying to get ff7 on n64 remember it would have been 12 cartridges just to play that game
