What do you mean? if no one could arrive at the same conclusion doesn’t that mean the conclusion was wrong? The EU process is a bit more like the U.S , I do believe there is a proper court.
You know it’s bad when AI does your job for you. Now we have AI examining this ABK deal and come up with solutions. I’d imagine if this gains traction how silly it would begin to make governments look. Post Up on Twitter: “A user by the name of Teemoisfun used ChatGPT to create a response to the CMAs PFs of the Microsoft -ABK merger. He fed the AI the full report after the response was completed he asked ChatGPT to give him a summary in a bullet point scheme. Results WOOW! Full report below https://t.co/PFwjAW36gF” / Twitter
Different regions come to different conclusions because they are looking at how this acquisition will affect their specific region - and that means they’re all working off different data sets. In Chile and Brazil for example, I’m guessing two of your four regions, Activision and Xbox aren’t as big a part of the market as they are in other regions so there was very little to be concerned about in this acquisition. This is something Brazil specifically pointed out in their findings.
So even if we may disagree with the findings of one region, the results of another region aren’t proof that they are wrong.
What’s interesting is that Florian Mueller (FOSSpatents on Twitter) stated that the CMA’s remedies notice in the MS-ABK case is more receptive to non-divestiture remedies than in Facebook-Giphy and various other cases.
So I was interested and noticed that unlike Facebook-Giphy, the CMA seems to at least offer a possible scenario with regards to access remedies.
Here is Giphy:
Here is MS-ABK:
And I have all the popcorn to enjoy.
So they were previously planning a “premium expansion” that has been bumped up to a full scale Call of Duty release in 2024. There’s a lot to take from this.
- So now they have the campaign dropping a week early exclusively on PS4/5? That sucks. But this probably only helps Microsoft’s case when Sony is paying to give itself an even bigger advantage in a game as they are arguing black and blue it deserves fair and equal access to because of how essential it is.
- A lot of this seems to have happened relatively recently, within the last year at the very least - including Sony working with Activision to increase the perks they have available on the platform even as they continue to try and block this deal.
- More interestingly, this would surely count towards the marketing deal that reportedly covered 3 games. MW2, Warzone 2 and this would make a third? I’m not sure what happened to that zombies stand alone release we were speculating could be a part of the marketing deal but since they have extra perks tied to this 2023 game we can assume that covers it. So if Microsoft is able to close the deal and retain Call of Duty, the marketing deal should wrap up this year leaving them free and clear in 2024.
It’s true. The headline really created the stir that wasn’t even true.
I don’t have the time right this second to go check but having read some of the remedies document I’m not sure this is the best comparison. I think there were paragraphs that are the direct equivalent to the sections shown in the GIPHY version that paint a slightly less positive image, but from my memory definitely more positive than what we see for GIPHY.
That shouldn’t be surprising, Era is just Gaf 2.0
if sony is refusing to communicate with them then they should not communicate with sony about call of duty this year. just dont release it and say sony doesnt want to work with us
which is gonna mek it more entertaining when it passes
I’m for the deal because I want more people at Activision get creative and be free to do more than just Call of Duty but I will say this, Jim Ryan has basically fucked over their relationship with activision because I don’t care what nobody says money talk, BS walks, and when you cost executive’s and board members and a quite frankly one of the most crappy CEO right now , a lot of money that’s gonna cost you your relationship with them and Sony should know Nintendo greed is what birth one of their most profitable business ventures
Sony will find this out too Nadella is not one to play with.
regardless of what happens, it looks like Activision’s relationship with Sony has gone down
Talk about burning one’s bridges.
Any. Don’t know where to begin. But take like this for an example:
Or
It gives great concern that it’s going to fail no matter what.
Looks like new cod campaign will be timed exclusive for playstation? Where’s the CMA outcry ?
If timed exclusive are ok, when Microsoft buys cod, they should come out a year later in playstation
They’ll listen to Microsoft’s propositions, but they’ve stipulated they’re unlikely to be convinced.
We don’t know for sure, they’ve said in the PF that they are open to them and that they are aware MS has said they will offer CoD for 10 years which they will look into
But people are debating if that’s just them saying it because they are expected to say it or are actually being genuine
